what is the best kind of cardio to burn fat and for how long

doesn't matter keep your heart rate around 120bpm

That's relative ot your goals, bodyweight, age and fitness level.

I think Bluto (albeit jokingly) hit the nail on the head.

assuming your not a Senior citizen that will be close to the range you want 120bpm give or take a little
