About 900 for the prejuding, close to 1,300 for the finals. From various sources. This year, I will be there, and take a picture of the audiences for all. But one thing I heard of the show last year that it was a great production, and lots of people enjoyed the expo and the contest.

I am pretty excited for this year's show, will actually be going, having fun, eating Orange Chicken, and taking a mini vacation in Colorado.

The production was all of that...I expect nothing less from Steve McAdams, best in the biz by far.

If you're in the Denver area....I highly suggest you attend the show.....If you're not...check out the live coverage on www.bodybuilding.com

you were very specific. you said someone else would get back to me. no one did. my concern was that i was from Canada and wondered if i could compete. not explained on your website. that is the part i didn't understand.

If your from Canada and NOT an NPC Registered Athlete the answer would be no but you did not need me to tell you this if you're not an NPC Athlete.

Exactly, I presume you were interested in competing in the BBing portion, otherwise you would have stated something else.
I'm not responsible for someone NOT getting back to you, when that happened a second inquiry would have been warranted.
But that's just me, if I were SERIOUS about competing. :-\

I'm the Co Promoter.
Dude should have followed up if he were serious, we have many athletes 80+ in the NPC portion alone.
If he is in Canada, chance are he cannot compete in the NPC but he is already a member, it is a no brainer.
So what's the fuss ::)

Co-promoter.  But you are the title of the show and on every ad material there is.  I bet most people don't even know who the promoter is if you aren't the promoter

Im making a point here that in the Grand Scheme of things there are many Emails back and Forth.
If the guy did not get a Reply from the NPC District Chairman and Co Promoter of the show, how would I even know?
There was no follow up until I read it here?
Doesn't sound like the guy was that serious if he never followed up and sat around waiting for something to happen.
The Answer is in his question " Can I compete in your show?"
It is an NPC Show, if your an NPC Athlete of course you can.
Who's next? ::)

Maybe if shawn had at least forwarded the question to Jeff taylor in an email, this could be dealt with.

Im not rippin on shawn tho......gotta be fricken crazy to have all these events coming up in the show.  Dealing with promoters and 100 things more.

But he knows his biggest responsibilities, are the daily load of daycare kids, on GETBIG....... ;D

You need to lay off the orange chicken!  Instead of working on expanding your waistline, you should spend a day hiking in the mountains and burn some calories...  maybe climb Long's Peak or one of the other 14-ers within driving distance of Denver.

Jae - There was a MONSTER chess tournament there at the same venue last year.  Hundreds of little chess geeks aficionados running around in their school's pastel-colored chess club t-shirts was a sight to see...they owned the convention center last year, so I know Shawn was eager not to have to go up against them this year.  That's why the show weekend was changed.    ;)

That said, I'm sure everyone had a great time - this was a really classy event in '06 and I'm sure this year's edition raised the bar.

Here are screen caps from right after the pros did their posing routines at the night show.

You see a man interviewing Toney Freeman, standing in the 2nd row, in the first pic.
You see the 3 to 4 rows behind him with people, then empty the rest of the way, in the second pic.

These are from 1:06 of the Bbing.com download if you want to verify.  About 5 to 6 rows of people at the night finals, right after the last guy did his posing routine.

It was still one of the best lineups of the year, and assuming everyone got paid, a succeess for the fans (who got a webcast) and the athletes (who got paid).  So while attendance might not have been there, it was still a good show, and props to shawn for putting it on.  I have to wonder tho - if Phil heath had done the show, would there have been a TON more people?  My guess is yes.  Good show tho.

WOW!  Imagine, everyone saying that this lineup was the best and yet only that many people came to the show.  What would a less then best lineup would have done.  How about the NPC show was that any better.  Well if Sean does this show again he should seriously consider doing it at the local high school gym.  At least it might look better and it will be ALLOT cheaper.  But, I think he said he signed a 3 year deal or 2 year.  I wonder if he is stuck.  Oh well.

The final posedown seemed to lack a little excitement... seemed like kai knew he had the win and was avoiding going tooe to toe against Rockel or Darrem, as to not blow it at the last minute.  So no head-to-heads.

Very good lineup tho.  Darrem did look like he could have won it IMO - he looked decent and big, and has a big name.  Rockel was probably my favorite to win tho - shoulders were sick and he just looked more complete than anyone up there.

If you lived in Denver and were a sports fan, it's possible you were either locally at the Rockies/Reds game to see Griffey go 0-for-4 with 3K, or you were at home watching LeBron and crew finish off Detroit for a trip to the finals.

I wouldn't want to promote a BBing show in a nontraditional BBing city without some awesome entity to sell - a Phil heath or something like that.  Hard gig.  Props to Shawn and BBing.com for giving us the free show.

There was a lot of people at the finals event...there wasnt just 5 rows filled...

Jerryme7,

Can you estimate how many seats were filled at the show's peak, and tell us when that was?

The video provided by BBing.com shows 5 to 6 rows filled, at the night finals, right before the final posedown.  Now, it's very possible the place was packed earlier.  Who knows.  What time were you there, and how many rows were filled?

the show is a success

How can you possibly know that?  There could be 2 rows of people, or a packed house, and you couldn't possibly know the financials.

And how do you define "success"?  A good lineup?  Sure, he had a success in that aspect.  A good turnout?  Good ticket sale/freebie ratio?  Please tell us what rubric you use to define success.  Thanks!

Big Ron was in Denver for the show.

He'll give us the real facts on the attendance.

I don't know... Ron is hesitant to report things that portray the sport in a negative light.  he won't lie, but he might evade the question or give some vague answer like "I thought there was a good turnout".

I agree.  Ron won't lie.  So if he's evasive or vague, we'll know exactly what that means.

Just so you know, that isn't an actual pic from Colorado.  It is, however, representative, since the bb.com screen caps 240 posted are real and show pretty much the same thing.

and I didn't do it to crap on shawn.  I did it so we wouldn't have to spend the next 12 months hearing one side say there were 20 people there, and the other sides saying there were 2000 people there.

We know from the screencaps that at the conclusion of the night posing routines, right before the top 6 posedown, there were 5 to 6 rows of people.  You could see even howie within groping range of flex wheeler. There were amateur events earlier, and those usually draw more people.  Some pics of those would be good if someone has them to share.  usually an NPC guy who is local will bring his family and co-workers out.  Kinda hard for an IFBB bottom third guy from yugoslavia to do that.

the final pose down is just to fill time.   it has no effect on the judging as the judges are already turning in their rank sheets.

Is it possible the expo was a big success while the body building shows themselves where not?
