Title: Survey: Should the IFBB pros be drug tested? pro/con
Post by: HowieW on June 03, 2007, 10:33:57 PM
Would you support a mostly drug free IFBB ?  I would 100%. But how does the rest of get big feel.
I would accept and support smaller , less freaky but healthy role models and I still believe they would be impressive.
Your feelings/comments?

This thought is so ridiculous on so many levels I don't know what to say. Fantasy is perhaps the correct word. Why even think about it?

no, they should be allowed to use drugs, but not the synthol.  I use to do a shitload of site injects, everyone thought I used synthol, bottom line is the circle needs to be completed so bbing can start new, back to the naturalesque physiques that arnold displayed, bob paris, dennis newman, guys like this.

And the result was that you used to look like a water baloon, and now you just look like a fat fuck with a wigger complex.

Wow, it is absurd they might follow the actual rules and be healthy role models with no "secret/wink wink" underground drug use??? yeah  what I was thinking, my idea is wacky and makes no sense :D

Dont be stupid... of course not.  Nobody wants to see natural shows.  The best we can hope for is to rein in the guts/GH/IGF/Insulin bloated physiques by changing what the judges reward. Great symmetry and flat stomachs should count for a lot, and the DJ/Marcus Ruhl/Bloat monsters need to go.

It's absurd because it's impossible to enforce. And secondly no one is interested in seeing natural bodies. It's a fantasy for some for a reason I can't comprehend. Just forget about it, there will be more and more drugs as time goes on. Bodybuilding as we know it AND LIKE IT = DRUGS!

No, you make no sense.

Agreed completely.  Much like Shawn's idea of increasing prize money.

I'd support a drug tested IFBB (provided fair testing)

I have a more valid question for getbig: is it true that if you don't use it...you lose it?  ???

We will eventually have to test for banned substances. Ditto for oil and inserts. Women have to be tested as well. No fake boobs.

I think random testing should be part of the testing program, plus a polygraph. Sure it might cost money but it is the only way bodybuilders will be respected by the public.

If without  drug-test ,both IFBB & bodybuilding have no future !!

You are delusional. Even your physique was built with dianabol. Imagine what you would have looked like without it!

Effective drug testing: impossible in practice

True drug free physiques: don't even catch the eye for a second

you cant test for hormones,,,

1) orals are easily used,, they short half life,,enough to pass any test on time,,and to blow up after the  test is done since body fat is down to 4% anyway so what is a little dbol or drol with the carb up huh?  ;) for the eve show...no test will be able or was able till now to detect something that is out of your system that fast,,,

2) growth hormones will go untected for ever,,,too much money to get test for it,,no one is stupid enough to do it because the money that will be lost will be enourmous

3) insulin is for diabetics and if youre diabetic you need the use of slin  right? just say youre diabetic,,its the old irish excuse

4) duretics are something you can test for and fail on but most guys  who use them know how to use them right and if not they pay the price,,,

5) its immposible to test each competitor for hormones because the results can always be argued if you got good lawyer,,see jason's situation back in the day,,

6) hormones is part of bodybuilding,,the moment you try to fuck with it the all sport looks like ken wheeler when he tried to do it "natural",,he wasnt natural but he was using less and you can see how far he got,,,

would you go watch shows with 160lb competitors at 5'11? would you pay 100$ for a ticket?? if this is the case you can just do a show in your own living room or your local highschool with couple gym buddies and be happy,,

hope this helps? :)

Drug Test= No More Pros

It is possible to get huge without drugs. Not that many actually believe it. We have made advances in nutrition, equipment and exercise science. Combine all those with experience in the gym and you can do it. The women might not be able to get as big but most men should be able to look impressive. The research is out there but most cannot or will not read and apply it.

I tell bodybuilders they can put 2 inches on their arms in 2 weeks naturally and without supplements and they don't believe me. Until we change mindsets and beliefs we will never find out.

It would be a bad idea!! look at what happend to the WBF!

The WBF had a much easier time with its policy, because Vince McMahon only had to test 13 guys (well, 14, if you counted Lex Luger).

Plus, McMahon went from one extreme (letting the bodybuilders inject whatever they wanted) to the other (testing them for everything but the kitchen sink, and testing them multiple times a month).

Plus, drug testing ain't cheap, especially if you want to be as extensive as Dr. Mauro Dipasquale, the man who ran the WBF's testing protocols, did.

Stupid.

They will just go to another untested federation. And untested bbers is what draws peoples attention so it would be the end for IFBB if they did.

I believe less freaky guys = alot less revenue in supplements, magazines etc.

top bodies account for the most "attention" in these cases, and in the financial state bodybuilding is in, if supplement companies/mags start failing, it's all over.

This appears to be the general consensus of those that are practical and realistic like Bob Chic.
Judging in this way may be the most practical cost effective way  which with the limited funds in pro bodybuilding may be the way to go. As long as the guys look sleek without a huge gut or absurd synthol, who cares what they are on in the long run. The last 2 shows seemed to move in this direction?
