Last I read he was retired and just relaxing with his wife and daughter. He is ok. He was another giant that was large and in charge. Who can forget those arms?

I think Mike's condition was mostly induced by diet. He also had a scare with diuretics a week after the 1993 Arnold.

best calves ever....better than dorian, nasser, warren, dillet .....u name it!

Always was impressed w/Mike's shoulder girdle,arms & the calves were freakin' amazing.Best ever in the sport imo.His thighs I feel were a little too small in comparison to the rest of his body.

jay has more seperation in his arms .....but mikes would most likely be bigger.........
only a clown would say someone has better calves than mike matarazzo....

i saw Mike compete in 90 or 91 or something like that at the Golds Classic in Boston...I believe it was his first show...The guys arms and calves were the same size you see in the pictures even back then....Now that guys was way before synthol...

talk sense..........dorians calves are amazing but matarazzo's calves are without a doubt bigger...
and...
mike's calves are too high?......generally black guys have high calves,like martinez/shawn ray.
mike's calves tie in as low as dorians (im not going to say lower coz they're not) and they are freakier/thicker......im sure bob or shawn would verify this as they both saw mike & dorian compete on the same stage at the same time......and shawn actually competed on the same stage at the same time as both mike & dorian.....
my conclusion is that dorians calves are almost as good as big mike's

sorry cant agree with this....i can never trust stats/measurements......
if there was a video from back then measuring dorian's then measuring mike's then maybe
fact is.....the pics show mike's are that bit more developed,freaky,thicker,wider........
as far as ankle width to calf muscle width (at the widest and narrowest points) goes....mike wins

MATARRAZZO 2nd show was the usa's and he was skinned for a hvgwgt,beat flex,caputo,francois,was only 230 at 5'10 and striated even quads ,had frame to handle his mass as the yrs went on,i thought his usa look was awesome but at pro level more is better,97 was his best yr had great condition and size.

I never said Matarazzo was a great. or one of the greatest, but freaky, yes.
Shoulder width, arms and calves were unbeliveable.
Upper chest, thighs, back not on par with those freaky bodyparts, also long torso made him look disproportionate.
I suppose he was blessed and cursed genetically.
As far as Cutler and Yates comparing calves, no contest.

His arms were way too big for his body. They make his legs look small by comparison in those pics. They're impressive but so is symmetry. He also needs lats and thighs. If you're going to have arms like that, keep the rest of your body covered while flexing them because it's likely you can't remain in proportion. He didn't.

no offense man but they weren't anywhere near 24 inches, they were probably closer to 20 inches which is still ungodly huge for a calf.

absolutely, and many pro bbers of his time would agree that they he had some of the best arms of that time.

I have seen (up-close) both Mike and Dorian in there prime
Mike had bigger/freakier calves than Dorian (Doz's had huge calves tho!)
also...............Mikes arms had unreal separation in them (find some pics of the 1991 USA which he turned pro at)

Yup.. works for AJ's in Modesto. Flex & I 've seen him a couple of times when I was living up there.
He's still pretty big and looks very healthy.

Dorian's calves were certainly 24" there in that shot, he's 305lbs in that picture, offseason 96.
In competition they were likely 22-23".
I seriously have a hard time believing that a 230lb matarazzo is going to have bigger calves than a 274 Dorian

nope man sorry, you obviously have no idea how ungodly huge a 24 inch calf would be, that's like a decent sized thigh, they were 20 inches, still huge.

We have a GetBig member who attended the 95 Olympia....he said that Dorian's calf was bigger than Shawn Ray's quad ;)

i'd have to see that because Shawn's quads were pretty fuccking big.

Mike's calves, along with his Arms were supposedly measured at 24 inches at a weight of 275 pounds in the offseason and were said to be 22" in competition, at a bodyweight of 245 pounds. Dorian NEVER weighed 274 pounds in competition form (Mr. Olympia wise).. The most he ever weighed was his last showing at the 1997 Mr. O, at a bodyweight of 269 pounds.

he is a legend i always loved his articles in flex.
i dont know why he doesnt mc anymore, he was the best ever, he should keep doing it.
in regards to calves...he is hands down best calves in history, he had freaky arms too, bloody huge, however if the rest was as impressive as his calves and arms, he would have won many contests.
