The Blackberry thread motivated me enough to come clean regarding my hate of Cell Phones the addiction to texting and so forth...
I don't understand folks that cannot part with their Mobile or Blackberry for that matter, I have a Mobil but it's pretty much uncharged at home, I hate to be available all the time.
I understand the factor of being on call if you have your own business but I stop working when my ass leaves the office building, and I hate to be called by so called friends that are simply bored and want to talk to anybody about what ever ::)
Texting is fucking shit as well, I don't need to be informed that my GF is now leaving the train and will be home in 5 min, there are far to many pointless text messages send every day.
I simply hate these things...
But than again, I'm not a very social person in general and like to be with my Girl and have no problem to stay alone over the weekend, I don't need constant stimulation from other people...maybe it's because I actually like myself and have rarely get bored.

Just because a phone rings or a text message is sent that doesn't mean you have to answer it. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, depending on my mood... that's what voice mail is for. A cell phone is there for you to have access to information and communication if you need it, but you're under no obligation to pay attention to it just because it's beeping or whatever.

You can always spot the guy that is the first time in the gym and feels slightly embarrassed by not knowing what to do first, he usually walks around the gym first and pretends to be on the phone ::)
The same kinda guy but without the phone is glued to the waterbottle and walks around the gym sucking water out of his sports bottle trying his very best not to look in shock and awe at me pushing/benching 500lbs easy ::)

IMO, using a cell in the gym is fine. you should just go out of your way to be humble and 'not in the way' of everyone else. Don't spend 10 minutes chatting on the only flat bench. But if you have to take a call over 3 min, lean on a wall and give up your spot in the weight area.

You are wrong, as long as you don't have your own business and need to stay in constant contact with your suplier or need and update how the streets work out for your bitches I don't see the need to take that stupid thing in the gym at all.

Agree dude 100%. I hate cell phones. I have to travel a lot and I cannot believe how fcking arrogant some people can be, and it seems to be mostly women. They think everyone is interested in their conversations. They are so self centered and entitled, its digusting.
And I think you hit it on the head about them needing stimulation, I notice that people that use cell phones in public are usually not very smart people who need some sort of constant low grade stimulation.
If its not the phone then its the iPod, if its not the phone or the IPod its food or drink. Thats why they are all stupid and fat.

Yeah but normally it looks like this:
Dude is making biceps curls in the Squat rack. While he is in the middle of one of his monster 15kg curls, his Cell phone rings on the other end of the gym, loudest mode some gangsta rap or arabian pop music. The song, which sucks anyway but even more on a cell phone speaker, plays for 2 minutes, then the guy goes over, calls back and sits down on the flat bench or on the backrest of the leg press.
Then he talks in a loud voice, so all guys in the gym can hear he talks to a girl, or he talks to his buddy about a girl. ::) ::)
This is repeated in at least 3 sets with 5-6 repitions, more than he actually trains.
Bottom line> Cell phone in the gym suck.

I know people will bash me now and try to accuse me for being ignorant, but I have noticed that black people (most of the black people here in Ireland come from Nigeria) talk very loud on their phone and don't seem to mind to have a fight for ages on the phone, I had to remind a lady TWICE that she is not alone in the bus, and she got all pissy with me.

They're worse than wiggers than any day of the week.. I actually like wiggers.. Most are middleclass kids who are going through a phase and they'll grow out of it.

No the reasons are more complicated:
Back when we pleaded Turkes to come over and help us in a booming Germany (there were more workspace than people working) all the Turkes who came over and worked in Germany always had one thing in common, they planed to stay for a couple of years send money home and than move back to Turkey when they had enough money made.
The problem (from their side) was that a lot (and I mean a LOT) started to like Germany, they build Turkish Communities, the German Government approving of them staying (since they mostly had no choice but to do a lot of shity jobs the Germans did not want to do) gave them every oportunity to stay, but at that point it was already to late for most of them to learn propper German or get realy used to Germany, some did but most stayed in their Turkish Communities and their children grew up the same.
At home they had to life like they were still in Turkey at sunday they had to go to Koran school, but all the other time they had to speak German and pretend to be German since they were born in Germany.
There is no doubt that it must be hard not to belong anywere, in Germany they were not accepted by the German kids, in Turkey they were Germans or if not Germans than at least not Turkish.
So they started to "rebel" in the way they knew best... macho man... cars... money... and their own German slang.
So in fact a lot of these kids are Germans but only on paper, they hate everything that is German with passion just to rebel.
I could go on but you see the "problem" is a little bit more complex than you think ;)

Absoltuly, got to any Hauptschule and you will see that a lot of the guys and gals are turkish, but the reason is pretty much what I have said above.
Most of the turkish Families aproove of the macho image the flashy car and all that, if you don't get any backup in the family and all you hear that school is a waste of time since you pretty much going to take over the shitty mixed marked from your father anyways... why bother going to school?
I had two very good friends turkish both, and their families were completly different, the father worked in a factory but was very litterate and well spoken, both of his son and one daughter were pushed to go study hard and go to the Gymnasium.
It just shows you once more that Family is really important.

when i see a fucktard change lanes on the highway without looking..its someone on a cell
when i see a fucktard doing 55 in the left lane..its always someone on a cell phone..
when i see some fucktard take forever in the drive thru..its usually someone on a cell..
i dont have a cell and wont till i'm forced to get one..

Africans like to show off their wealth by gadgets like cell phones but they aren't much into bling..
i work out / train in a 100% black gym and its hardcore and NOONE talks on the cell....except for the ocassional personal trainer and thats usually about training appointments etc..
American blacks are more into bling..but gym blacks in general are different than normal american blacks..gym blacks have more self confidence and are usually nicer people since they r secure and ya dont really see them buying into the bling..

I wish i could avoid the Cell phone more, but it's hard if you use if for the job too.
I have to travel too, so it's handy at times. When i'm in my hometown, i rarely use it.

on the flip side a while back some girl asked for my cell # and i told her i ws gonna give her my home # cause i didn't have a cell..and she got insulted saying " if you're not interested you dont have to make stuff up" and walked off in a huff..

Two times I brought the cell p. into the gym, because I expected an important phone call. Turned out that I wasn't called or txt messaged during gym-time, so I brought it for nothing.
You have to watch your step in the gym because you see cell phones every where on the floor.

I just guys who sit on equipment on use their phones. Standing around not taking up equipment is fine. I don't personal calls should be made cause that just waste training time and you lose your pump. I have to have mine cause of business. But I don't take up a piece of equipment.

I agree 100%. People answer their cellphones while in mid-conversation with others, as if their calls are life and death situations, pushing all other matters aside. Incredibly rude, if you ask me. Unless, of course, the call is in actuality, important.
The ability to occupy one's time without the need for outside stimulus, does seem to be a pursuit of the more intellectually minded. I know many people that have to cannot, for the life of them, enjoy an afternoon alone, by themselves. They would die of boredom. It reeks of a total lack of imagination, or, for lack of a better explanation, low intelligence.
I never made the stupid and fat correlation, but it does ring true. I like that one.

The Blackberry thread motivated me enough to come clean regarding my hate of Cell Phones the addiction to texting and so forth...
I don't understand folks that cannot part with their Mobile or Blackberry for that matter, I have a Mobil but it's pretty much uncharged at home, I hate to be available all the time.
I understand the factor of being on call if you have your own business but I stop working when my ass leaves the office building, and I hate to be called by so called friends that are simply bored and want to talk to anybody about what ever ::)
Texting is fucking shit as well, I don't need to be informed that my GF is now leaving the train and will be home in 5 min, there are far to many pointless text messages send every day.
I simply hate these things...
But than again, I'm not a very social person in general and like to be with my Girl and have no problem to stay alone over the weekend, I don't need constant stimulation from other people...maybe it's because I actually like myself and have rarely get bored.
Agree with all you have written here. Its the real cool people IMO who DON"T have cell phones with them all the time. Why be a slave to your phone? And always texting ::) thats for 13 YO girls...right?

cell phones should be left in the car, not in the gym. The gym has a phone and if there is an emergancy I can be reached through the gym phone. Stay off the fucking phones in the gym. If you run a business, take an hour off and workout, geez assholes, it isn't that hard ::)

I actually told a girl to get off her phone. She was on for a good 5 min on the leg press machine next to me and I finally snapped at her. It's stupid to me. If you have to answer it, pick up and walk out of the lifting area. Sitting on a bench talking for 5+ min is stupid. If your kid/wife/parent/etc is dying then leave, chances are you are not going to finish the Incline Db bench and then leave.

There seems to be a new trend were not only do people talk loud when they are on their damn phone but they switch it to speaker phone so now we get the pleasure of listening to both sides of the conversation. I hate that!

One of my very generous patients gave me, as a gift, a cell phone "jammer".
This interesting little toy is about as illegal as a radar detector (or so I am told).
It looks very much like a regular cell phone, thus, you will not be suspected of anything once you decide to take control of your surroundings.
Once activated, it disrupts and shuts down every cell phone for a 75 foot radius.
I use it in my clinic(people will talk on it while I am doing an examination on them!);while teaching at the university; in the movie house; restaurants; and, especially after landing after a plane flight, and the captain says "you may now use your electronic devices".
Of course, there is no cell phone usage "allowed" when I am in the gym :).
It depends on my irritation levels.
But, in any event, I enjoy silence everywhere I go.

The school tried calling my house but my wife was out with my other two. So if anyone had a jammer when I got a call like that. My daughter was in the nurses office with a 4 inch gash under her chin and cheek, there are things written down that if no parents are able to be reached then they call protective services..There are'nt words to describe what I'd think or do, your fucking with peoples lives. But I agree that loud unimportant babble should not be tolerated in a gym.

Greed is having a sense of entitlement to something that is not yours. Making as much money as possible by selling narcotics or by some other measure is not greedy. It would only be greedy if it infringed on the rights of another person which it does not. But I understand the point you're making - don't grow too big or get into the types of drugs which piss off authorities. I met a cop who works out at my gym who is juiced. I would rather see a cop like that because he can do his job. In 50 years, all drugs will be completely legalized anyway, so make all the money you can while you can!

Some people can't just stop their workers especially when they are at various locations, also like some at my gym they need to be on standby for all kinds of shit cause they work for Law Firms or are Executives for large companies.

We have plenty of multi millionaires, CEO's, Rainmaker Lawyers and, of course, paretns. The only people who HAVE to talk on there cell phones in the gym are the younger corporate people who think they need to be connected 24/7 or the socialites who really don't want to work out. Very important people realize that 1 hour three times a week is not too much to ask for themselves and they are usually important enough to take it.
Also, most of them are smart enough to workout before work....
