Title: Congress is considering an increase in Title X funding.
Post by: Hustle Man on June 07, 2007, 12:03:01 PM
Congress will be considering an increase in funding that would go to groups like Planned Parenthood.

Reports this morning indicate that the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS) and Education will be dealing with a $100 million increase in Title X funding.  This is an unprecedented expansion of taxpayer funding that could end up in the hands of groups like Planned Parenthood.

Any thoughts?

Doesn't sound good, particularly if it's going to support Planned Parenthood.  I've learned some pretty shady things about them lately (on this board).

This ticks me off!!!!  I heard about it on the radio while I was out to lunch (ACLJ with Jay Sekulow).  I hope this doesn't even get to the floor for a vote.

Planned Parenthood is actually complaining about the increase, saying it's not enough.   ::)

Well they are just considering it at this point.  Does it mean it will happen?

I can think of so much more waste that our tax dollars go to.  This seems like small fries.

when considering the national debt, the war debt, and the overall budget....yes.  100 million isn't probably going to go far anyway.   Really what they should do, is put something like that into schools/

Sounds like a lot of money to me when, particularly if it's going to support a group like Planned Parenthood.

I don't think the funding of schools comes primarily from the feds?  Looks like the federal government already spends about $60 billion on education.  http://www.federalbudget.com/  Education is the largest budget item in our state.

Money isn't the problem.  It's how the money is being spent that's the problem.

What's wrong with Planned Parenthood?

I'm sorry but my speakers aren't working.  Would you just summarize it please?

Sure (there are subtitles).  Planned Parenthood offices all over the country tell pregnant teens to lie about their age and the ages of their "boyfriends" so the girls can come to the offices with their "boyfriends" to get abortion counseling.  The girls are as young as 13 with the "boyfriends" in their mid 20s.

Thank you.  Sounds pretty bad.  I wonder what the alternative is.

Tell the truth and encourage these 13-year-old girls to tell the truth.

Get rid of Title X, period.

Tax payer dollars should not go towards giving people condoms or teaching simple sexual health to a bunch of bonobos. I doubt this garbage actually helps.

Or how about more like $500 million, just in the last two years alone.   >:(
