yep.....he would've won a good few anyway......

could've beat franco(76), zane(77,78,79) most likely arnold in 1980....franco(81),dickerson(82),samir(83),
and maybe even haney in 84 & 85 ....maybe more

Post by: disco_stu on June 07, 2007, 01:38:48 PM: IMO that contest was the closest anyone got to yates when he too was at his best. Levrone was my first place and Labrada number 2 with Yates at 3 and Ray at 4.

But i guess arguably yates was at his best ever the following year.

PS i dont count wheeler due to lack of lat thickness and sweep, calf implants and general lack of width from the front...besides Yates was past his due by date then anyway.

his conditioning/detail was amazing..
that back shot of his is awsome same for Shawns..
Benfatto also had a beautiful physique
Sonny was also a beast, i think he would do well in todays shows..

I think dorian might have looked better there than in 93 (his stomach was flat with no hint of distension at that show - in 93 it was huge).

The mega-anabolized pro bodybuilders have much more muscle mass but they are not as crisply detailed as that of the amateur guys and the guts ruin the overral impact of muscles overpowring the frame. What causes the visual impact of large muscles is that they overpower the frame and joints; if your gut is huge, it makes the muscles look smaller. :-\
