Title: Schilling loses bid for no-hitter with 2 outs in the ninth inning
Post by: ieffinhatecardio on June 07, 2007, 09:14:56 PM
Schilling pitched an absolute gem today against Oakland and up until two outs in the ninth hadn't walked anyone or given up a hit. The only runner to reach base prior to the hit was an error by Lugo at short on a routine ground ball. Schilling was absolutely DEALING. Pretty damn close to a perfect game. The baseball Gods can be cruel as hell.

Not bad for an old fat bastard and the Sox certainly needed the win.

Guy is 41 years old to. He's got a rubber arm, I swear. He'll play another 5 years. Guy is just built to pitch. What a stud.

Schilling is showing signs of his age. The Yankees beat up on him pretty regularly.

You are out of your mind. The Yankees batting lineup looks like an all star team. If they DON'T beat up on a team, there's something wrong.

Schilling pitched a tremndous game and gave his team what they needed.

5 years?   His second half splits were horrible last year.  If they are again this year, he may need to pitch fewer games.  He may be able to benefit from a Clemens 1/2 year type thing, if teams are willing to do it.

Good point and that's one of the reasons it bothers me that Schilling doesn't keep himself in shape, ever. Even during the season he's overweight.

It's true.  You have to wonder if he showed up in ST in shape this year, if the sox would've have given him the one year extension he wanted.

He should borrow Clemens' workout routine.  And Clemens, uh...supplements.

Good because he doesn't deserve it.

He's got a big mouth and has never met a camera that he hasn't liked.

have you even looked at a yankees game this year? Giambi-out, Mentkewiez-can't hit and is out. Abreu and Cano just coming out of season long slumps, Matsui looking old, Damon can't run.

I like curt. Although he has seen better days, I think he still has a good amount left in the tank. The sox where smart not to pay him before they saw how he would fair this year.

I see 2 more good years. Unless he goes on the clemens "regiment"
