Title: I hit a PR today!
Post by: chris_mason on June 10, 2007, 06:16:29 PM
I have been practicing platform deads for a few weeks.  This was my 3rd session with them.  I am standing on 2 45s which are just over 3" tall (the rubberized type of 45s).  I pulled 635 lbs totally raw (no belt, straps etc.).  For anyone unfamiliar with the movement, doing deads from a platform makes them more difficult.

Nice platform DL. Hard off the floor (as it should be) but nice lockout.

Question... Why is that on Youtube?

The best product right now and there best seller is the Nitrean. The Nitrean is a combination of whey (isolates, concentrate, and hydrolyzed), casein, and egg proteins and was just rated #2 by Men's health for best formulas.

How did the most popular fitness magazine out there find out about At Large?

The answer to your question is a combination of a great product and luck.  Someone on the staff ordered from us and loved the stuff.  He mentioned it to another staffer and there you have it.

Damn, impressive lift bro!  ;)

When you do your working sets, do you use the same plates?  I hate using those plates for deads cause when they touch the ground they're always off balance.

Keep at it!

Very strong. Interesting technique, with the way you look down. Some great deadlifters do it also but you are more extreme in the way you look down.

I do.  That gym has rubber mats on the floor, so I think they help to absorb any variance in the floor or plates.

Thank you!  Yep, definitely as lean as I have been in some time.  This is no ad, but Nitor has definitely helped me along with greater calorie control.

Frankly, we had to make several adjustments to our business model because our net profit was just not where it needed to be in order for the business to grow.  The other thing you may be noting is that the shipping charge to Canada is now the actual USPS charge, not a flat rate.  We were losing our ass on shipments to Canada with the flat rate (to the tune of an average of nearly $20 per shipment).

good lift! but why do that when there are forklifts. just do some heavy rows+chins+pulldowns and some light deadlifts (maybe up to 4 plates) and you will grow with less risk of injury.

that video is all ego. (but your mofo strong in the lift)

because Chris is a little attention whore, only an insecure little bitch would put a mediocre lift like a 635 pound deadlift on youtube, hahahaha, you'd think the guy just pulled 935. ::)

it's a mediocre lift to be putting on youtube and then starting a thread on getbig talking about it, there are guys who pull 300 pounds more than this clown who don't make anywhere near as much hoopla as he does, he's a joke.

Errr, actually, there is only one man pulling 300 lbs more than me and that is Andy Bolton who recently got $10,000 for the feat.  As usual, the fat around your eyes seems to be blinding you to the truth.  The lift I posted in a 3" platform lift.  For someone weighing under 220 lbs, 635 lbs off a 3" platform and totally raw is quite respectable.  The fact I am natural makes it more so.  Are there guys stronger?  Heck YES!  That doesn't diminish the fact it is a good lift.

I hardly put every lift on Youtube.  I put PRs that I think are worthy.

As to my chiming in "every time", please try again.

No plans at the moment.

We too have an affiliates program you can join.  In fact, I would love it if you would.  PM me if you would like to know more.

I like his lifts and think it's nice to see him put up clips of them. Mason is an awesome guy. Very strong too.

I never figured out why he was supporting Westside when there are plenty of other lifters elsewhere who goes below parallell.

It would be nice to see a nutrition company backing guys like a Caleb Williams, a Shane Hamman or perhaps a new Priscilla Ribic. And meets with real walkouts, instead of the bullshit monolift.

Just my opinion.

Hope to see more clips from Mason in the future, and I'm sure he can get that 700 pretty soon.

Honestly?  I really like Louie and Doris.  They are great people who care about the lifters.  Louie has seen and done it all and knows his shit like nobody else.

Oh, and one more thing, we support other federations and lifters as well, but Louie and whatever he is associated with is #1 in our book.
