I have been following this board and many bodybuilding boards for years, but I still never came accross an answer to this question that is boggling me!!
It doesn't take a genious to know that all bodybuilding PROs take and rather misuse steriods and many other drugs. Also, most of these PROs live in the states were steriods is illegal. And as far as I know based on my little knowledge about steriods, you would need to inject your body once or twice a week with this shit, when you are ON. This means that those PROS have an easy access to steriods on almost daily basis.
My question is: how come they are never busted? Yes, I have seen a few cases about PROs getting busted but they are always related to drug dealing not personal use.
Do those PROS are covered with a phoney medical justification to use steriods or are they brilliant in covering it up or there is something that I missing here ????????

some do get busted. I think that law enforcement isn't really concerned too much about busting users of steroids as they are with busting dealers/producers. thats my 2 cents anyway

its because the d.e.a cant waste their time and resources chasing every steroid users with "personal use" amounts in their posession. they generally go after the people at the top of the food chain. cuts it off at the source.

They dont get busted because police must have probable cause to do a search. Having big muscles is not probable cause, that would be like searching everyone who is skinny for coke.

you dont come and knock on people houses or facilities unless you have a good reason to think they deal narcotics in bulk,,then you need a warrent,,and then you can come by and do a search,,
most bodybuilders wether youre a top of the top or the average gymjoe,,keep personal supply exactly like the cop who will come to bust them....
many get it prescribed too although its far from needed in todays scene,,
in general the major risks and the reason for busts is when you involve with distibutions of narcotics and painkiller because this is something that le pays close attention to and take very serious and this is the way it should be,,,meaning if 20 year old will come to le and say..my neigbor had people coming in and out of his house and i smell weed and they all crack headds on meth and i seen it,,,le will come to close business and arrest the needed,,
if the same girl will come to the local police and say,,,,um i think my neigbor is taking steroids he is buff and puff and has mean look on his face,,and he is yuck,,the le will look at her ass and smile politely and send her to the local sanitarium,,why? because many of them do the same thing,,,because their wife and girl they date may very well be on clen and ephedrine that same time,,and because this is a grey area that like the mexican illgeals that no one wanna touch and everyone can suffer from touching,,

there ara a lot more profit and fame and justice in taking down narc dealers over the "small" population who uses sport enhancing drugs to enhance their physical apperance,,the judge see it this way,,the cops see it this way,,,and society in general see it this way

the easy answer is that most steroid users (at least around here) are friends with cops, and many of the cops are on the sauce too.
they dont bust the dealers because the dealers would implicate the cops if they went to trial.

I knew of a bodybuilder who kept all his injectibles in lock deposit box in the bank and shoot up there in the bank in the privacy of a cubicle he had been busted before i thought it was a smart idea.Most of the top Pros have them prescribed by a Doctor and are montired by doctors.Jay Cutlers wifes a trained nurse so i do not think he will be to worried about his health he looks like his on year round.
I always travelled year round for a bodybuilding holiday in Mexico or Thailand for 3 to 6 months get the stuff cheap.

The actual large , often absurd amount of drugs used by pros is most likely ILLEGAL as the day is long.
(* I for one don't think it should be illegal on a personal level *)NO doc is going to prescribe the amount of gear these guys use. It is a good cover story however, when some wise fan asks a hard to answer question.
Plenty of places I would imagine for a well connected pro to get all the gear he needs sent via descrete means from outside the USA. Sylvester Stalone recently got busted for trying to bring in several vials of HGH into another country.
The pros do get busted sometimes, but it seems to be part of the job these days.
After the now infamous BALCO scandal nobody wants to talk in any open ways of what is going on with the drugs in pro bodybuilding now.
I think it is ludicrous that a pro from this country mus risk breaking the law to compete on a level playing field.

I lived in several countries where steriods is completely legal, its like buying panadol from the pharmacy. What is weird is that in those countries I have hardly seen anybody using steriods heavily or lightly. Yes you would noticed couple of guys ON in many local gyms but I rarely noticed it elsewhere. I agree with gh that Americans seem obsesssd with their looks. are also gh and synthol illegal in the states?

Bullseye. Plus most of them have a script from a doctor saying that its for personal use for when they travel and go through customs with their stuff. That piece of paper makes it all legal.

I doubt they have an actual , legit script, from a real MD for any circmstances.
Look, I am not saying it should be illegal , but in the USA it is.
I suspect that the real core , behind the scenes behavior with regards to sneaking around with drugs is a deep and sorrid tale in BB. Many that are top bodybuilers or work with them will mke some witty remark or avoid the issue.
Others will act like it is no big deal or seem like they don't care, etc.
This issue is the proverbial 800 lb goriila in the room and won't just go away.
The legal, health and other crap related to drug use in our sport will get bigger until the doodoo really hits the fan.
I don't understand why others don't see this nightmare about to unfold. My guess is that the amount of ADDICTION ( both physical and mentle) has a lot to do with the denial.
