I think it is a cry for attention of some sort. Maybe they think the judges will notice them more if they wear their hair in a crazy way or if they cover themself in tattoos but what they don't realize is it totally takes away from the physique. This looks like some sort of a freak show. Half of these guys have the "hardcore" mentality.
