there's a talk show on and they've got this blonde chick who says that anyone with a BMI over 30 is obese, seems like most pros would be in the over 30 range, are they obese?

Pro bodybuilders are not average people..
Hell, even people with good genes for muscle and thick bone structures cannot be measured by that index.
I thinks it's okay for the average person who doesn't lift.

Oh, and I saw some chinese dude who probably weighed around 130 lbs at around 5'8" and had a beer belly in my economics class.. I'm sure the BMI index would consider him healthier than some black dude who's 190 lbs and ripped, and at the same height.. See why the BMI is garbage?

Most are in the 22-25 range Arnold was 22 BMI his first MR. O win.
Bodyweight (KG)/ Height (in) ^2

so you're saying that these guys who are 260 pounds at 5'8" would be in the 20 range? i don't think so, look i know there's a difference between muscle and fat but it's still body tissue that your heart has to pump blood to.

Im not talking about the mass monsters, I'm talking about the "normal" 215-225 guys 5'8" and 5'10". Yeah those guys are well over 25

even 215-225 at that height would be around the 30 range as far as the BMI chart goes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_mass_index
bodyweight(kg)/height(m)^2 or 703 X bodyweight(lbs)/height(in)^2
assuming a 235 pound Arnold at 6'2" you have a BMI of about 30.17

Here is a link to an online calculator. http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ (http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/)
This thing says mine is 26.6 which is considered overweight. ;D
I'm 5'4" and 156 lbs at four weeks out from competition. The bmi is so not an indicator of health for the athlete.

BMI is an average for the normal person. For various athletes who train with weights, BMI is not even applicable as it doesnt take into account muscles. It is the same as the U.S. Daily Value for Calories. It looks good for an average, but everyone is different.

Just as a dark kitchen is not a good indicator of ones physique

Get down to contest condition, walk into your C/O's office, take your shirt off, and ask him where he would like you to lose fat from?
