Mike, you look better than you did in the week out pics, I think you should have fun, but your bigger goal will be the other show you mentioned a few weeks from now. Good job in the last week though, I am impressed by what you did.

I actually am. This was my last figure show. :) I place according to the judges sheets 7th (out of 9) in the open and 8th (out of 10) in the masters. I spoke to Peter Potter and he said my upper body over powered my lower body and my lower body was big, but not as defined as my upper body. :( They chose softer looking and slimmer (less shapely girls).

Laura, you definitely improved from the last show. No matter what the placings are, you have to focus on always improving your physique. You'll move up in the placings as time goes on. Stay focused and enjoy the ride. Great job!

What height class were you in for the open?
Knowing what I do about you just from the boards, I would say that I think you are going to be happy with the decision to switch to BB. I think you will feel more satisfied and have a greater sense of accomplishment after the hard work you put into your contest prep. I also can tell you for sure that you are going to have A LOT more fun doing BB!!
Please be sure to spend some time on the women's BB Board here...I hope to get some good stuff going on there, esp to encourage more women to switch from figure and give BB a try. :)

You definitely made some improvements! :D You will only continue to do so! I think most women have a problem getting upper and lower body to click right, damn lower half is more stubborn than top half. >:(

Do NOT get discouraged. You know I am not one to blow smoke and post a pile of fake compliments, and actually will freely post that someone looks like garbage.......and I can honestly tell you that there is zero reason to be discouraged for you.
Firstly, figure judging is a toss up many time, don't be disheartened by your placing. Half the time I swear the judges toss a coin to determine the winner.
Secondly, you made extremely good improvements...your legs were considerably leaner, the quads were far more streamlined, even your calves were improved definition wise. Your back was dramatically better and actually looked damn good, delt caps were much more prominent.
I know it feels like forever, but it is only your second show. All jokes aside, with some adjustments to a few things [posing, suit selection et al] and just some more time in the gym you can move right up and place extremely well, as you do actually have the skeletal structure and overall look required, plus the timeframe in which you have transformed at age 43 shows you do actually have the genetic capability to improve substainally more.

Laura I agree w/everyone here. You made definite improvements and looked good! In addition, the competition looked very tough. You have improved everywhere :) Like the others have said, don't get discouraged. Remember back before you started dieting for your first show. You have come leaps and bounds from then!
BB may be fun too. Like I PMed w/Mike Female BB seems to be heading in a good direction.
You worked hard and it shows. Congratulations :) :-*

Amen to that. I've been to almost 2 dozen shows in the Tampa / Central Florida area over the years, and have yet to understand the ryhme or reason behind the figure judging. Seems like they want one look at one show, and a different look at another.
I have to second the opinion that you have a great structure for BBing.

Thanks Everyone! I was a little bit discouraged (you know, you work hard...but then I had to remember that so did everyone else on that stage and we all have to fall in somewhere). I ended up having an excellent time and was around people I love and respect, which made it all that much more.
Mike and I chowed on a pizza after, finished all but two slices. So we had those slices for breakfast...with our egg whites and oatmeal of course :)
We spent Sunday pool side with some very dear friends and enjoyed a day of not worrying about the gym and cardio.
Today it's back to clean meals and the gym. We are not going to fall behind this time. :)

Good job guys...your obvious hardwork paid off. It must be nice having someone around that's into that same stuff huh...like on those days you don't want to get your lazy ass to the gym or you want to polish off an entire bucket of KFC on your own!...lol

LOL..unfortunately she has the body type that can eat a half a pizza, pepsi, Cold Stone for dessert and still not get over 115lbs. Hell since she has been coming to the gym with me for the last 4 weeks, we worked out her diet to be about 2400 cals (clean..ok not totally) and she now weighs 117lbs..but at 3% less body fat! (now 11%). She is only 5' 8"...I love her...but hate her for that...lol ;)
Not to mention she's a mother of 4.

LOL!!! my friend said his wife jokingly (really?...anyways) that when she met my wife for the first time she thought "Wow she's pretty"...then when she found out she was a mother of 4 it turned into "that skinny bitch"...they are good friends so it's funny but wonder how many women silently mutter "bitch" when they meet a woman with kids that takes care of herself?
Thinks it's because most have 1 or 2 kids gain 100lbs and blame it on the kids so there is no use in them working out?
Some here at work say "yeah, I used to have a great body but I have kids now....blah, blah, excuse, excuse, blah, blah..."

Just between us...I liked her at 6mo prego when she was about 135lbs or so...hell she was dead sexy all the way to 9mo!!!!

Yeah..I'm fortunate there, I can't do boney. It's painful to look at, feel ect... She is starting to get some tone and is loving it. Plus I think her little bi & tri's are cute.

Yours have real good natural sweep allready. My wife was a sprinter & gymnast, she has natural quad sweep that most BBers would die for, w/ out ever doing a squat or hack in her life.
I had a girlfriend that was a competitive figure skater when younger, again great development, from the jumps I suspect.
If it's there to start it's so much easier.

1) You are a 43 yr old hottie
2) Had the guts to start training
3) Had the audacity to enter competitions
4) Most women I know would love to be in the shape you are in!
