yeah i don't have it but someone should post it, Bob himself had a fantastic professionally done pic on his site at one time, that's the one that looks best.

no chest or back, when compared to the top guys. come on guys, chicken turned pro after being in the game a long time. which proves he wasn't that good. he competed in the nationals when cris duffy won the heavies. and back then the guys weren't that big because there wasn't even a super-heavy division.

I thought my physique at he '02 NOC and Olympia was just as good...unfortunately, what I brought to the stage at the '00 USA would not be enough to do much in the pro's given the judging standards at the pro level...(sad, but true)...

it was, but sadly you ended up getting on stage with markus ruhl at the peak of his career. far as i'm concerned almost no one could have beaten that.

I would have to get a good look at the '02 pics to say for sure and use my old judges eye 8)
As we have talked about before at the recent Colorado Pro expo, the current trend has been for mass monsters over complete but albiet smaller package.
I think doing a couple things ( many of YOUR ideas) would solve this.

1. Judge the complete package as the standards actually say. Just being bigger , even if you are hard , does not always make one better. Shift and enforce the ideal standard of overall perfection of a physique as the winning ideal.
* This would go a long way in making the pros more "healthy", I would think.

2. Not only should ever pro except Mr O have to REqualify for the O each year, they should be required to compete in at least 2 events prior to the O, if they want to fully qualify for it.
In my opinion, it would ideal to have a true IFBB grand prix champion. Start with the Ironman all the way up to the last show before the Olympia. Give pts for being in more shows. For example, pts given for placement in each show based in level of comp and number of pros, etc and participation.
We actually did this in the NPC Lousiana district when I was living down there. Had 4-5 state/regional shows from May to July. It was pretty popular.

I disagree. In my humble opinion, while Markus had a lot of rock hard mass and was impressive , his overall look lacked the ideal classic lines and flow of a great physique.
A classic car or work of art is more than the quantitative sum of its individual parts.

Howie you may be an NPC judge, but the IFBB judges have a different view. Lines & flow mean zero.

I usually dislike Ruhl's physique, but I think his showing at that show was unbelievable and he definitely deserved to win

I opted to not have the low back surgery and adapated my training to work around the main issue.I was lucky and know back troubles are tircky and everyone is a tad different.
I have worked out with some really strong squatters that never had great loooking quads despite the power.
Kinda crazy how many back and shoulder injuries we get in this sport.
I swear, if I had to do it again, I would use just Hammer stuff, cables and DB's, etc.
It is agiven that some training injuries can happen in any sport where you go for it.
But in BB we should be able to avioid a lot of these if we use good sense.

Others had marketing/propaganda machines building up to shows, and judges were looking for 2nd place from get-go.

Bob, without wanting to sound like a prick - are you still 'on'? I'm only wondering because you're the most eloquent and personable of the pros with a great media career - why risk any 'problems' from continued usage?

LOL...no..I havent been "on" since before the Masters Worlds...why bother? Basic training and a decent diet will easily maintain what I have, and I just have to look good in a tux for the most part..!

I didn't say he trained harder ,

However, Theyre known for being lazy, missing workouts, trainning with crappy form (Sergio Oliva)no sticking to a strict diet and yet bringing an awesome package on stage...Yes people with great genetics can get away with it,

that has a lot to do with potential rather than desire..believe me ,they woudn't stick around for long if they coudn't get a pro card right away.
