Do you realize that your "Waddling" at 2.9 MPH on a treadmill is pointless and this method is better?

I remember all these dumbasses that use to tell me that running or biking was worthless for bodybuilding and that the only worthwhile thing was walking on a treadmill with an incline. Where does this shit come from? Did someone just make up these ideas and then everyone takes it as gospel from then on?

this is all the pro's CAN do, so people assume that it's what they have to do if they want to be muscular like the pros.  BRUTAL CONFUSION of correlation and causation

I don't think it is that so much but it is just that out of all the cardio machines in the gym that i have used atleast the treadmill seems to be the most effective at burning calories in a given time period. Of course you could just eat less but supposedly aeroibic activity is most effective at burning fat as opposed to something like lifting (atleast if you do it like me) which is anerobic.

I like the treadmill too, but I run on it instead of walking. Walking on a treadmill is just so damn boring. Atleast with running, it is a challenge and you can always try to go further and faster. Plus you are burning a lot more calories faster.

I agree. It is very boring. I notice when i do the bike, even though it feels like im putting out more effort and it burns like crazy i am burning less calories so i usually just stick with it.

I find that long distance running burns the size off my legs, so be careful with that if you are trying to keep your quads intact.  Ever seen a runner with huge quad sweeps?

Walking, interval training, and sprinting are better options IMO than running.  You can make any of these as interesting, exciting, and challenging as running too.

that is definately something to consider...anerobic exercise mostly recruits fast twitch muscle and aerobic slow twitch, if you focus too much on aerobic exercise it might hinder your gains.  This is not something that I know a lot about.

Similar to the long-distance runners without big quad sweeps, you will notice that most sprinters have bigger legs and very good leg separation.

yeah sprinters also have awesome hamstring development, and posterior chain in general.

So true, but that's much harder than "waddling" on a treadmill, holding the handles at a 10% incline for 30 minutes.

Here's a great sprint routine that I did last night:

- 150m Shuttles *8
        (5-10-15-20-25) in 30secs with 45 sec rest.

- Speed Session 100%
        - 5m *10
        - 10m *10
        - 15m *10
        - 20m *8
        - 40m *4
        - 80m *2

that sounds like a lot of fun.

I like to sprint up hills or stairs with my weighted vest on.
