Here are his career stats, he makes an interesting case for the Hall of Fame but he's probably going to fall short. He's as big and strong as a bull and was an excellent HR hitter. A few more healthy years though and he probably would have made it in.
Here are his career stats courtesy of MLB. http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/stats/individual_stats_player.jsp?playerID=123245&statType=1 (http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/stats/individual_stats_player.jsp?playerID=123245&statType=1)

500 HRs, 2 MVPs, .303 Avg, and a career OPS of .985 and I'm going to say he gets in.
If you're interested, there's been some metrics derived to predict HOF induction. Here are The Big Hurt's:
Black Ink: Batting - 21 (97) (Average HOFer ≈ 27)
Gray Ink: Batting - 202 (37) (Average HOFer ≈ 144)
HOF Standards: Batting - 60.5 (27) (Average HOFer ≈ 50)
HOF Monitor: Batting - 194.0 (41) (Likely HOFer > 100)
Overall Rank in parentheses
These indicate he should get in as well. We'll see.
The definitions of all these stats are at www.baseball-reference.com.

Good thing you posted the link because I had no idea what they meant.
The 2 MVP's, the 500 HR, and the .303 average are enticing and just might merit HOF inclusion. My gut tells me it won't be that easy though. We'll see, you know those HOF voters are a fickle bunch.
Some of them feel that no one should get in on their first ballot. So there are some geniuses out there that didn't vote for Babe Ruth or Ted Williams or Joe D. or Mantle or Nolan Ryan simply because it was their first time on the ballot.

congrats to The Big Hurt

Don't feel bad. I had no idea of a couple of them. Blank Ink? Gray Ink? WTF?!! ;D

He is a first ballot hall of famer. Two MVP's, a batting title, over 500 home runs, tons of RBI's, tons of walks, tons of runs scored, great OBP. Not tainted by the steroid scandal. EASY first ballot hall of famer.
-
He will probably be in before Sammy Sosa. Back in the 90's the "Big Hurt" was one of the most dominate batters in the league. He was the man back then, probably the most popular by far.

There are a bunch of players that are more of a lock to get in then Thomas. Get in line Frank!

Nobody that is currently waiting enshrinement. Name somebody that retired during the last 5 years more deserving. We aren't talking about currently active players. So he doesn't have to get in any line. ;) Now if Clemens, Maddux, the big unit or Griffey were to retire at the same time as the big hurt did he would be behind those guys. But those guys are in a whole different league than 99.99% of of anybody playing MLB.
