Only JayZ song I liked was the collaboration with him and Linkin park, that song "Numb"
For some reason I prefered that version to Linkin Parks original.

and i think he made a few others that was ok but nothing that makes him deserve the legend status he seems to have, guy is considering one of the best ever etc

50 Cent is not a good rapper either.
Diddy shouldn't even try to touch a mic ever again. He embarrasses himself in every song.

Rap has good aspects.
A lot of the beats/hooks etc... are really good. Sometimes you find a guy with clever/good lyrics.
However the general popular rapper has a shitty attitude and message and no diversity.
Also, about 70% of (popular) rap songs are based on other songs from different genres.

Other then Diddy you should try to listen to songs other then the ones on the radio or MTV, all those songs tend to suck. The good shit is almost always never released as single or played on MTV. Most the stuff I listen to or like is not heard much unless you happen to have the album or mixtape, only people I can ever talk to to about music are black dudes who are really into it.

The guy who does that this is why im hot is the worst rapper. 50 cent cant rap either. The Game is just another rapper who is no different than the hundreds before him. There are really no good rappers out anymore that I know of except for some underground stuff and even much of that is a regergetation of something already done.

lets talk about the actual rappign not the song itself
for me to define a good rapper, is more like "who else would do a better job on this particular song?"
for instance, i think 2pac had a good voice for rapping, and was unique, i cant think of too many rappers that would've done a better job in dear mama for example
but it wouldnt be hard to replace 50 cent as a rapper in any of his songs

kanye wwest has good tythem in his songs, and he has a lot more meaningful/intelligent lyrics than most of the main stream rappers out there. so, as far as the mainstream goes, kanye is one of the best. jay-z has had some alright stuff, but his rhymes are weak. he thrives in his beats.

but the best would be...either immortal technique, del the funkey homosapien, q-tip, common, tupac, biggi....or if you like the slow jamz= ll cool j.

Eminem had good shit before he made it big, his style was fresh and new, I think it was great. Now I can barely stand the guy but he seems to actually be getting better because he is so established that he doesn't need to just sell records, he can make good stuff now without worrying about losing his deal. Kanye is just annoying to me, he has some good shit but is way to full of himself. Best group out there has to be UGK (or Outkast but they are ledgends), they have been banging the same style since the early 90's and stay true to their fans. Rap kinda sucks in general now but there are still some good guys out there, you just have to look them up rather then listen to the radio.

the whole east coast and west coast scenes are played out. rappers like Eminem, Jay-Z, Xibit, Snoop - I just can't enjoy their flow
the best rap comes from the dirty south. since dj screw back in the 90's, the whole region has consistently put out the best rap music. it's a shame that most don't enjoy the mainstream attention they deserve. T.I., L'il Flip, Pastor Troy, L'il Scrappy Fat Pat, Trae . . . the list goes on
