Gunter has a nicer smile than Dorian.
But that's about it.

2002 Gunter was Mr. O caliber.........only if Abs and Thigh wasnt a mandatory pose

Have any of you guys seen Gunter in person?? I did twice, one
time one week after the olympia, he was about 307 and still
really ripped. He was HUGE in person. I couldn't believe it.
He's tall too about 6' 2". But his overall size in person was amazing.

I think Gunter would make a great Mr. Olympia. While parts of his physique can be liked or disliked, he seems extroverted with a good sense of humor. Wouldn't hurt the sports image to have an approachable and seemingly warm champion. He's also busting into movies so he could have a little crossover appeal. Sounds educated when he talks and even cracks a few jokes. I think he qualifies as a "mass" monster to appeal to the hardcore fan base.
I think he's the most mainstream marketable of the top 10 guys.

I think it is safe to say that out of most ~300lbs physiques out there, most people would prefer the look of Gunter.
I know that is a small comfort for Gunter ending up 5th in 2002 however...

In first year he met up with another friend of mine who motivated him to train:

They were both 165 at the time, at their heights of 5'7 and 6'2. I think he basically started training at that time (2001). Imposing dude in person. He has a frame a lot like Gunter's actually.

I think he is the most marketable bodybuilder since Arnold, and the closest thing in the last decade and a half to what the golden years of bodybuilding were about. A real travesty that he didn't win the 2002 Olympia and didnt win many more pro shows, bodybuilding would be in a much better place today.

I like how he still looks athletic with that amount of mass, has height, healthy look, veins on arms. everything jay (and ron, except the veins) misses.

No, he wasn't, he had nooo back detail. If it was abs and thigh shots only, then Yes he would be Mr. O, but when he turned around, he had a Nasser El Sombaty back....
And quite many women found Flex (before the GH and braces), Shawn Ray, Chris Cormier, Dennis Newman, Alq Gurley ( where is he now?) handsome...

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, HIS VASCULARITY IS UNREAL, BUT HE LOOKED EVEN BETTER IN 2002 WHEN HE SHOULD HAVE EASILY TAKEN THE OLYMPIA. IFBB JUDGES ARE COMPLETE MORONS TO OVERLOOK HIM TIME AND TIME AGAIN.

gunter always looked healthy and well balanced , probably cause of hes over 6 foot.... something about the 5 foot 5 bodybuilders looks funny

What year was this video taken? Seems that Gunter has an extremely short range of motion in his lifting. I wonder if he changed things up in 2002 and started doing full reps.
(Or is the short rep range common with the pros? I've seen some Flex Wheeler videos where he throws the weights around and is all over the place in form and rep range.)
KEEP training for another 10 years and u will understand that when u bench for example the chest works for 25% of the range of the motion and that benching basically equates triceps...so that's why ronnie benches from 1/4 of the motion to 3/4 of the motion which by the way is considerably harder if u try it...it's keeping the muscle under constant tension...lower the weight, slow down and see what happens - charles glass
