Carbonated drinks aren't really the best to drink during a workout if you don't want an upset stomach. There are also much better sugars i.e. glucose or sucrose but I get his thoery and it doesn't seem to be that half assed.

I used to drink non carbonated drinks like Lipton Brisk, Welchs juices and such during workouts when I had no gatorade or accelerade but I have to say that when I drank coke it upset my stomach so I would only use it after a workout for sugar consumption.

Fortunatly for me carbonated drinks do not upset my stomach. Many years ago Marathon runners drank Flat Coke during the end of a marathon.

Here's my current workout drink

1/2 lime squeezed, 20g dextrose, 5g creatine, 50mg caffiene and small drop of barley/orange concentrate stuff, add ice cold water and some crush ice and shake.

Tastes great, and real cheap as all ingredients are in the kitchen

Make 2litres a time and keep cold.

there is a guy who does that where i work out with, but he syas he leaves the coke open for a day so all the carbonation goes out because it makes him "ill".
