I know one of them's got all the nominations and accolades and awards, but I believe Naomi Watts could give Meryl Streep a run for her money when it comes to being the greatest actress of the 20th-early 21st century.
-
Meryl Streep
Kramer v Kramer
Deer Hunter
Sophie's Choice
. . . more recently, Prairie Home Companion, Devil Wears Prada, manchurian candidate, adaptation
Naomi Watts
Mulholland Drive
King Kong
21 grams
Ned Kelly
Wide sargasso sea
-
I think they're both terrific, but I like Nicole Kidman better.
-
Streep by a landslide!

i like Kidman better too, but it's b/c of what she looks and sounds like. in terms of range, i don't think she's quite in the Streep-Watts league.
Streep by a landslide!
that's the easy money.
but maybe streep is the better actess b/c she has consistently known which roles are the great ones.
-
naomi nicole who?
I cant keep up i thought meryl died already. did she go to LA?
Do ya wanna do a fave actress thread? I'd probably vote for a British one
I'm biased
But Streep was lovely, as was Cher.
xL
Watts? what kind of name is that?
-
Streep, then Hilary Swank. There are not too many good role for women in feature films, but those two seem to be great in everything they are in.

You're like 19, right?
xxx
and you didn't know that movies are way over?
Last century.

Hilary Swank is the female equivalent of the young tom cruise . . . lots of charisma, but only good in certain roles (usually w some sort of an edge). Naomi Watts can play characters w an edge, and w/o an edge (played both in Mulholland Dr.).

Hillary played a dude and won an Oscar, played a boxer and won an Oscar. I did see Naomi the the other night in a movie about a "possessed" elevator ;D

;D she does pick clunkers. she and nicole kidman were in an aussie movie (w thandie newton, i believe) way back in the day, and it took watts the longest time to make it over here . . . even though she has the most talent.
Hilary got lucky . . . Hollywood loves giving awards to people who play retards/misfits. Russell Crowe, Dustin hoffman, etc. And if they die, its a double bonus. frankly, it's the same character she plays in both.
Spunky girl doing her best to be a dude, succeeding, then failing and dying.
Spunky girl doing her best to be a boxer, succeeding, then failing and dying.
notice that boxing is a male activity too.
See what I'm saying.

Same model. different color. He does act like what Dylan would be 20 years later (he's acting his age).

Yeah, that would be cool for me as well. Then I would have to wait 1 year and get 10 straight years of 90210!

I don't watch that either, although I probably should because I heard it was really good. I loved Carnivale and Curb Your Enthusiasm though, you watch those?

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm . . . can't get enough (seems like Entourage was conceived as sort of the younger version of Curb). If you loved Carnivale, then you should like John from Cincinnati.
