I'm not one for calling bullshit...
but
I have seen johnny jackson train on dvd repeatedly
and based on that.. i find some of these claims...
questionable
the ones that stand out in my mind are
150 dumbells shoulder presses 15 reps (he barely did 10 - 12 *properly with this on flat chest presses on bfto 2005) :-X
200lb incline presses 8 reps (see above statement) ::) :-\
seated military presses 405 - 8 reps (branch is a stronger presser than johnie an he did even do 405 for a single n his dvd.. he was doing 375 or so in what looked like a crazy half standing incling barbell press) :-\
upright rows 405 pounds 8 reps(no comment) :-\
alternate dumbel curls 120 8- 10 reps
...
Now im not sayin johnnie isnt a strong bber....not in the leage of levrone coleman or chris cormier.. imo
but yes he is strong...
but i thing flex churning out some of the numbers are an insult to the intelligence of their readers in some respect...
I have said before and i will say again..
so far on 3 bbers have done anything close on film to what has been claimed in magazines..
coleman...cormier... levrone...
everybody is strong on paper.. but on film..
first thing they say when mitz meets them... low carb day...
5 and a half weeks out from the 2000 mr olympia.. coleman
deadlift 800 lbs 2 reps
200lb dumbell presses 12 reps flat 8 incline
495 barbell rows 10 reps
585 front squats 6 reps 12 with 495
315 for 12 military presses.
......
like coleman would say errbody stong on paper but dont no body be strong on film..
..

Everybody on here is sick and tired of the lies these Pros tell!
Is it something to do with this so-called-sport, that it seems to attract liars?
Oh yeah, to put it more succinctly; short men that intentionally tell untruths!
Is there a link between steroid-use and lying short men?

here is a video of johnny and branch doing flat dumbell presses i dont think the go over 150
6 partial.... reps with 135 dumbells for johnnie... and this is a guy who does 150 dumbell presses on shoulders for 15 reps
and 200 incline presses when he cant even handle 135 for proper reps... on the flat press properly
but according to flex he does 150 on shoulder presses 15 reps
:-\
-
That was 4 reps with 585 front squats mes ;)
But I am sure he could have done 6+ he just didn't want to risk it.
I get real disapointed watching pro bodybuilding videos. Apart from the guys you named.. the rest don't quite match up.
I think Lee Haney's video is pretty good too.
Also when Shawn Ray was dumbell pressing his bodyweight in each hand on inclines.. 150's.. that was pretty cool.
-
monster bs
-
shawn ray i forgot to mention him.. he never mouthed off about weight he could move..
but he moved good weight.. with impeccable form....
definetaley not an ego trainer but had good strength
-
after watching Unbelievable, cost of redemption and Levrone everything else sub par when it comes to strength and entertainment value.
-
mesmorph78, i agree with you. i used to train with kev at his gym in millersville, ms. i was in the battle of the O 00 tape spotting kev. the oonly other bb that was as strong or stronger is Coleman 0
-
those claims are all bullshit, on BFTO 06 JOJ has trouble shoulder pressing a pair of 110's for some of the smallest reps i've ever seen, he literally presses the weight three inches for 8-10 and throws them down.
-

Yeah, no shit. Everything else is just "eh".
-
yes in bfto 06 shoulder presses by jackson was the shortest i have ever seem.. and he looked offseason there /.. fat...
if you can press 405 militarry...
even if they wake u up out the bed at 3am 115 dumbells you should be able to press it for 20 reps no problem..
405 is an insane weight to press on the free weight barbell... especially for 8 reps.. by yourself.. no hands on elbows nothing...
but then again he does 405 upright rows :-\

yeah a strict 405 shoulder press is something that probably a handful of men in the history of the world have ever done and JOJ wants you to beleive at a bwt of what 250 offseason he does 8 reps with it? yeah ok. ::)
-
NEWSFLASH!!!!!
pro bodybuilders are liars.
hope that helps.

yes militarys are a bitch to do...
and based of DVD not flex pictures or words i can see johnie jackson doing that....
based on this clip of johnie benching 405
I really doubt a 405 military press for 8 ... :-\
-
based on that vid, there no way he can military press 405 for 8 reps.
-
I used to believe the hype when he supposedly challenged Ronnie in strength....that is until I saw a video of him doing barbell rows with 315 :o The guy was literally throwing the bar up using nothing but his legs (minus the calves) and momentum....worst form I'd ever seen.
I WILL give him props though...as the sloppiest training bodybuilder who hasen't been injured!!! ;D Props to you Johnnie :-*
-
Here's Yates shoulder pressing the 150s back in 1992. He also benched over 500lbs back then.

Yep, the two of them are really hitting it with good form.

hahaha, just saw the video...he only did two reps, he couldn't have gotten the third one on his own.............now let me get this straight, he can do that weight for 8 in military press?! ::) I LOVE IT!!!
-
;D
and upright row it for 8 reps as well..
Im not makin it up.. its in this months flex.. the did a booklet on johnnie jackson...
..
though he was leaned down in that vid.. if you can military press 405 times you should be able to bench for at anny given time and at any point of the workout carbs or no carbs..
i can military 225 ..and my bench is around the 370 - 380 mark during my workout
.. so if johniie can do 405 for 8.. ideally his bench should be near 600 .. 620?
:-\
yet he struggles with 135 dumbells on flat dumbell presses
:-\ :-X :-[
-
how he got the title of strongest bber is beyond me..
coleman cormier levrone
on did...
bench 405 like paper
ive seen all 3 do it for no less than 10 reps.. coleman 12...
and you can tell they can go on..
hohnie is a strong deadlifter ....
thats it... he even struggled to bench 315 for 5 here...
:-[ :-X

There are a lot of big mouths in this sport. Lieing and shifting big weight go hand in hand, i suppose.
People like Sean Ray never bragged about the poundages they could move. For a short guy his strength was unbelievable.
It is easy to hate on Sean, but there is no denying, that pound for pound, Sean was one of strongest going around!
PS Dont respond Keith!
-
Maybe Flex is the one making all this up and not JJ?
-
Johnnie Jackson is full of shit, always has been! The guy is so concerned about proving himself to be a tough guy. He basically has some kind of gangsta hang-up!
Johnnie, you are just another juiced-up retard playing the numbers game. Bottom line, the industry needs modesty and honor, something like what Sean brought to the game.
Sean was strong as an ox, yet never bragged about his lifts.
-
NEWSFLASH!!!!!
pro bodybuilders are liars.

I'm pretty sure the magazine is to blame, not Johnnie O. I doubt the athletes have any real input into some of their articles.

yeah the link is your cock.
bodybuilder are big liars tho, no doubt about that.
-
i dont think jackson can do more than 8 proper reps with 405 on the bench and he cant do more than 225-275 on the free weight shoulder press.
-
hi shawn

johnny o jackson has, in sanctioned powerlifting meets, pulled 814 and squatted around 830, weighing roughly 230 pounds about a month before the 2001 nationals. i don't remember how well he benched. a few years ago he just barely missed over 810 at a meet weighing in the normally nonexistent 259 weight class. to say johnny isn't a powerhouse is just plain ignorant.
on video he's weak as a kitten in no small part, i think, for the same reason he never quite shows up in great condition. ronnie has dieting down to a science, i don't think he loses any strength to speak of until the last month. art atwood always said he was weaker in the offseason because he felt bloated and overheavy, but when he dieted down he was stronger.
-
johnie has a good deadlift.. and thats it
... but or flex to push him as the strongest bber in the worl is ludicrus..
goes to show u the power of hype...
especially hen you dont research to find your own answers..

haha calm down, Skee-Lo. Why dont you hit the gym, and show these rookies what its all about, yesss squees it mr Ray.
-
Strongest bber = big Bubba
Levrone was a strong presser..
Franco Columbo, Yates, Tom Platz, Lee Priest, Cormier, JP Fux, Branch, JJ are are/were all pretty strong, but not close to Bubba in terms of all around power.
-
yes franco was very strong..
i dont even have johnie in the top 5 strongest going by video
-
The fact that JJ goes along with the 'strength lies' told by Flex, makes him just as guilty.
JJ is just another dumpy-wannabee-tough-guy with a bad drug addiction and too many std's to count! Oh yeah, he says he is really strong though! Gee, you are such a mean mofo Johnnie!
-
hank why do you claim every pro BB has STD's? what is your trip?
-
hank's act is getting boring.
-
the dude claims every BB slaps women around and has STDs...I just wanna hear why he thinks this...(maybe hes a bitch who got an std and slapped around by a bb?)
-
Johnnie has issues; so what!
One only has to look at his diet of steroids to realise the guy has no belief in the concept of a healthy-lifestyle!
Johnnie is his own man. No one gets off telling this thug how to treat his bitches, or where he should put that blistered-dick of his!
Johnnie may be a revolting human being but at the end of the day he is an IFBB Pro!
Peace.

It called MARKETING for the supplememnt comapanies. Everyone of these BB outside of Ronnie makes wild claims and then go on to say they are using this product or that product for strength, speed, power etc.
Like it has been said...these BBs are strong, but exagerating the strength claims like they do is RI-DIC-U-LOUS!!!

i'd actually say branch warren may be stronger overall. when he hits 405 for a load of reps on the incline and rests the bar ON his chest during the set, that blew me away. same with the 365x7 shoulder press.

yeah i wouldn't call what he did on his video a "shoulder press" though, he leans up against a seated press bench standing up and tilts back like a steep incline and presses the weight halfway up, still ungodly strong but hardly a strict press.
-
C'mon, Johnnie is full of shit. He comes from the 'Lee Priest School of Truth'. He majored in; telling lies!
JJ has a foul mouth and is scared of the truth. When he is ready to deal with his addictions and take responsibility for his appalling record with his bitches, then it will be time to listen! But until then, Johnnie is just another Lee.
-
JOJ did compete in the WPO.
his total was over 2000, but some of the claims are outrageous.
like the upright rows.
if you've ever seen his form on barbell rows, you can only imagine his form on those.
