Im not the only one am I? The only reason I even come here is because I started BBing years ago and I just came to love the people, hahaha!
So really, no others here?
-
Nope not me, but it's amazing to watch!!
-
Me neither. Got a few training at my powerlifting club though, and I've tried a few workouts. But never a real competition.
-
Guess I will have to be the "resident strongman."
Guess I'll just go flip tires by myself? :-[
-
Oh I have done that......... motorcycle tires ;D
-
I will be competing at "The Beast of the East" in Myrtle Beach, SC on Sept. 1st.
Ascending log
Deadlift for reps
Monster Walk
Super Yoke
Stone for Max Height
and a Wild Card Event
Doubt many Getbiggers get outside to strongman comps......I gave up on bodybuilding a few years back. It's better to be strong and explosive.
-
Good luck!
How long have you been doing strongman?
-
The Beast of the East was a blast. I didn't do as well as I wanted (5th in the LW's) but had a great time. Strongman comps are usually a lot of fun and there is a real sense of brotherhood among the competitors.
If anyone is interested in doing an amatuer contest start with North American Strongman Inc. There are several levels of shows out there all over the U.S.
-
Good job bro! LWs are always fun to watch because for not having the size of the HWs they do some pretty insane lifts and are fast as hell!
So, 2 then? Nice!
-
Im here. not often. i used to be a bber but now rededicated to strongman. i use the forums at murunde-muscle.com to chat. this site never seems to have anything to offer anymore.
-
Agreed. Marunde's site is great! This site was never intended to be for powerlifters or anything. It changed about a year ago.
I was also a BBer and that is why I come here. Its my home. :'( If it werent for the cruel people and constant internet toughguy criticism I would never have gone so far in BBing. ;)
Good to have you on board!

I found a lot of the guys that do strongman are from a bodybuilding background...many powerlifters as well. Strongman incorporates explosive speed/strength with mental and physical stamina...nobody cares if your waste is small or how vascular you are...etc. There is also a lot of strategy involved in strongman competition.
Here's a few pics from the Beast of the East. I am an NAS LW amatuer and this was a very heavy contest for pros or amatuers.

Thats worse than Nationals!
Nats is 300 farmers for distance, 796 monster tire flip, stones to 413, 120lb kettlebell clean and press for reps, and 796 Yoke.
Last year at Nats they had a 300 log for reps and some of these freaks got 14 reps! :o
