I have to agree.
-
I always thought he would someday be MR OLYMPIA
-
He definitely had the potential to. I remember very clearly one of the first bodybuilding magazines I bought had Newman on the cover. I think it was right after his USA win in 94 and I remember thinking that he looked great and that his was the type of physique I would aspire to emulate. He was recently on MD's radio show and said he sustained a substantial pec tear and even if he had the drive he wouldn't compete because he wouldn't be able to present the type of package he previously had.

I remember seeing Dennis on ESPN'S "AMERICAN MUSCLE" show when i was in my late 20's and Newman was a teenager,my Girlfriend at the time was practically drooling over him, that helped in my decision to start working out
Dennis was great until Leukemia struck him down
-

Let me preface that the below statement is to drive the point home on the sauce. I know Dennis had a precondition for Leukemia but the sauce accelerated his situation.
Just another reason to stay away from the sauce kids but wait if he did not use the juice in the first place then we would not be talking about him and he would of not been on American Muscle where chicks and dudes were drooling over him. IF it were not for his juiced body chicks were drooling over he would not be living the post-cancer life which we know is real sexy ;) Who is drooling now?

Still looks good!!!From flexonline:
First as I just opened, I got a blast from the past as none other than Dennis Newman came in out of nowhere to say Hello, he had not been in Venice in 5 years, he was living in Vegas for a while and now moved to Salinas, Ca to do personal training, the guy has not been training, eat only 3 meals per day and look like this??
Just goes to show you that Genetics are everything!

WHAT THE HELL WAS THE CAMERAGUYS THINKING?!?!?!
-
greatest bodybuilder ever
it's a shame that his bitch wife left him as soon as he got sick and lost his physique/contracts/money
-
Odd he looked so poor for that "No Pain, No Gain" movie - would've thought he'd get in better shape for it.
Amazing physique in his prime - just needed more chest thickness.
Arvilla - trivia question for you - how did he do his squats?

MAN!.....................I have seen a zillion clips of Dennis training (but im drawing a blank here)
he had huge quads soooooooo............... ...ill guess with that queer Frank Zane thingie that straps over ur shoulders?
leg blaster?

Hi Arvilla - it was an old MuscleMag Int'l interview - he said that ever since he first started training, when he squatted, he would always go forward on his toes such that his heels would come off the ground.
If I recall correctly (this is > 10 years ago!), what was interesting was that he said he did NOT usually do the typical trick of putting 5-10 lb plates under his heels, but just squatted like that!!! I.e., each rep, his heels would come off the ground a little!
He noted that everyone thought it was weird + dangerous, but he had gotten used to it + had no problems w balance.
Sorry - not 100% sure this is accurate, but the overall concept definitely true - it was 1 of the few bb-er interviews where something unique + interesting was said, so it stuck in my head.

Hmmmm..................i always tell my clients to make sure that there heels do not come off the ground
(push off thru your heels) just goes to show there is no "right way" to train!
