Hey guys I know calorie restriction is supposed to extend one's lifespan, but I think I actually look a few years younger than I did when I started eating less in 2005. Maybe it's just because I'm skinnier.

Hint: You can slow aging by eating a bit less and very healthy, but there's no way you can reverse aging.

there are reports that eating something stupid like 1200 calories per day permanently can lead to a very long disease free life....
they omit to point out that that life is so fricken boring that you will commit suicide in the womb to avoid it... gimme beer, gimme steak... gimme angioplasty

actually eating less has a stimulant effect. keeping yourself full all day is a sure way to go through life sedated and lethargic. Your body responds to scarce food with endorphins to get you manic and ready to catch food for the day. Ask all the "cage fighters" on this board and they will tell you to always go into a fight hungry.

yeah I remember some show that said only eat a few calories a day could extend your life by 20 years or something. then they show this couple that looks like they are starving and how happy they are. They looked alien. Living an extra 20 years may be great and all, but if I couldn't kick ass and pull wool that wouldn't be a very fun 20 years.

It is true as long as the food is high in micro nutrients.
This has been proven in the lab on rats.
But then you go through life hungry and small all the time :(

An old 'Zen'-saying is to only fill your stomach to 8/10s. ;D ;D

It's true, that you can slow down aging through a calorie restricted diet. It has been proven on mice, rats and monkeys. Money is now being raised to conduct studies on humans.
As stated above, you must drastically restrict calories and those calories must come from healthy sources, vegetables, fruits(blue berries, cherries, etc.), healthy fats(nuts, olives, etc.), green tea, red wine, lean proteins, etc. Otherwise, you'll get sick and die from malnutrition.
Since calories are energy, you'll be restricting energy. So no cardio, no high intensity lifting, etc. Very little to no exercise is encouraged as 1. You won't have the extra energy for it, and 2. Exercise can interfere with this diet's anti-aging process.

that's only on the short term... what you have pointed does not apply to the subject of this thread which is premanent caloric restriction

wrong, do the research (either on yourself, or by searching the literature)
