Title: Matt Burzacott, the Iowa Muscle Machine
Post by: columbusdude82 on August 12, 2007, 08:57:06 PM
Congratulations to my buddy Matt Burzacott on placing first in the heavyweights at the NPC Europa. Matt looked great, and did an awesome job in preparing for this show.

Looks better than most pros in my opinion. He could use a little more ab work possibly to make his abs deeper.

Awesome shoulders on Matt.

His main faults are his calves and being an Iowa football fan.

He may not be able to do much about the former, but I am still hoping he will see the light and start cheering for the Buckeyes!!!

You're exactly right. I don't know about looking better than most pros but I do need better abs.

Yes it really does. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. My right pec looks like total shit now and there's nothing I can do about it.

In the belly and the tendon shredded.

Were you doing flat bench when you tore it?

yeah. it was on the last set, on the sixth rep. shit snapped like a rubber band.

I was just wondering bc it seems like most pec tears come from doing flat bench.

Bro you look great.  Like said above you calves need a lot of work but gentics are a bitch aren't they.

Your conditoning doesn't look all that stellar.  If I had the physique to compete I'd only aim for Yates-like conditioning or I wouldn't step on stage. I may be mistaken, but isn't getting proper conditioning just a matter of dedication?

Tearing your pec on the bench and deforming your physique, I'm sure that had nothing to do with gear  ::)  Was it worth it?

You have a very big frame, get older and wiser fill out and better conditioning.Good job.
But please get that Pec fixed.

You still look better than virtually everyone on this board tho'

A tear like that is 'unfixable' much like Federov's. Matt Devall's is worse.

Sure, but trying to make it look "natural" is the difficult bit given the severity of the muscle trauma..

Plenty of physiques can still look great even with a tear ie. Tony Freemans comes to mind.

Yes, the ONLY reason I tore my pec was because of "gear." Nothing else. And yes it was worth it.

Thanks. Yes, I am still getting older and wiser and will continue to improve. I did get my pec fixed. The only thing I could do now is get an implant in the "dent" I have. It may continue to get a little bit better because it hasn't even been a year since I tore it. I have barely even trained chest the last 9 months. Hopefully it will fill out some when I get back to training chest normal and not like a 50 year old woman.

Excellent base a very nice physique , like others said needs more size a very big frame to fill out but a great structure for one !! you should be proud you're ahead of the game.

can you tell us how much you were pressing when the tear occured, and if there's anything you feel you did wrong (poor warm-up / poor form etc.) that contributed to the injury?

Thanks alot. I agree with you totally! I need to add alot of size. I only weighed in at 215 so I hope to come in right at 225 next year.

I was doing 455 and tore it on the 6th rep. I was plenty warm so that wasn't the problem. There are a few things that I think led to the injury. First off, it was my FIRST day in California (I moved there from Iowa), so I was driving for 25 hours without my usual sleep, food or water. I woke up my first day there and ate breakfast and went to the gym. I was most likely dehydrated, depleted, etc., from the drive. Also, I never go below 6 reps to avoid injury and I ended up getting injured on the 6th rep anyways. I will only use dumbells and machines from now on and hopefully my chest will get a little better.

So you hadn't slept for 3 days staright, no food, got into a fight with leo the lion from AWOL, along the way, and still benched 455 for 6, legendary.

Levrone tore his pec and did very well for himself , his tear honestly doesn't look that bad , Fedorov's looks much worse.
