Title: A miliary discharge to see a bodybuilding contest
Post by: 240 is Back on August 13, 2007, 05:32:33 PM
England gave Reg Park the weekend off to check out a bodybuilding show.

I did not know bodybuilding shows carried such weight.

Could our men and women in Iraq request the Olympia weekend off to check out the Expo and see Jay defend his title?

Sure. If the leave request is approved by the super. Service people get 30 days of leave per year for personal use, to include BB contest. ;D

At the Olympia for the past few years, they have been giving free tickets to military personal. I know for a fact that a number of them took off the weekend from Nellis Air Force Base, Vanderberg Air Force Base, Camp Pendelton, and probably others to go to the Mr. Olympia!

Rob Wilkins, IFBB Special Liason, usually handles these special tickets for military personal.

too bad you get to use the 30 days when they tell you that you can go home or if someone dies and never when you want.

What about "Don't ask, don't tell?" Doesn't that give their sexual preference away?

That's nothing.  Billy Guns and DA take accept a "discharge" at every bodybuilding show they attend.

I was in the Chair Force and I never had a leave request turned down. My squadron was over manned. Every year around Oct/Nov people were always scrambling to use their "use or lose" time. I never took time off during then so I never had any issues.

Another observation you missed in that comment was, "They were not at WAR" during that request. :-*

Someone told me that same story, but once they got back..they were discharged immeddiately...

Dont ask dont tell policy boys.

...going to a bodybuilding show is the equivalent of screaming "I'm a homo" during boot camp
