right now im at 176 pounds on them for 8 reps, nothing fancy, but im going to be at 225 for 6 reps in 6 months. all natural strength. i never tried really my max rep, i think thats ego and useless, i did try 3/4 reps sometimes, but the weight that you can complete 7 reps with s the measurement of strength.
-
135 for 10. Impressed?
-
Didn't we already have this thread ala SF?! ???
-
I'm lifting the olympic bar only
-
185 for 7 I do them standing though.
-
My last workout I did 234.745 lbs for 5.65 reps
-
Yes, standing is much harder. I think I did 185 for five followed by another set which consisted of 12 reps mostly all assisted. Standing is much better for building strength.
for me standing is not harder, it makes it easier, you can cheat and swing, sitting its all shoulders so it makes it harder. standing can also cause lower-back injury if you re not careful my friend.
-
10lbs x 3 ..I only do 1/4 reps
-
Shouldn't this thread be on the training board? ???

"multile" ???
Anyway, how does your lame response invalidate the point that this thread should be on the training board, or perhaps dumped in the Z, where it really belongs? ::)

yes but they are also much more shitty on the lower back

Used to be able to get up to 205 seated, then *bang* I blew a rotator. That was a long time ago, and the last time I tried with 40lb dumbells it still hurt. Ah well, never liked training shoulders, anyway. :'(
-
225 for 7. I do them seated and to the front.

in all seriousness 225 for 8-10 is awesome and more weight than you see 99 percent of people in gyms strictly pressing.

No lying there. It's hard as fuck doing 225. I can only get 8 now and that's on a good day. I think once you find your grip width and proper position you can do okay.
Question on benches. Are most o ???f your benches straight up and down or are they angled back slightly? Ours looks like a severe incline bench. Is that right??! Or should I setup in teh cage and do them sitting straight up and down?
-
Cybex Smith Machine - 3 x 20kg plates per side - 6 reps
Hammer Strength Machine - 5 x 20kg plates per side 6 reps
Dumbells - 130lbs - 7 reps
-
little less than 90 degrees

i slide the adjustable bench in the power rack and start the press from below chin level instead of reaching up and back and taking the bar off the stupid ass seated press bench, those things are horrible.

Yeah racking and unracking is ridiculous on that thing. They have this catch bar whatever the fuck out front like you're supposed to toss it away or something. SAY WHAT?!?! I liked the idea of the cage for safety instead of the smith. I've been going to the collar bone with them. I LIKE IT. It's more impressive to me than doing 275 or 315 to 90* on the elbows. Seated military is weak for me but I feel better doing it FULL ROM now! ;D I just can't do them with upright rows or anything else or the power plummets.
-
I broke 495 for just 6 reps, whe I was training with Matt Duval, he got a double on 755 pounds, stroing guy is matt, made me look like a bitch.
-
bullshit
Why do you say that? You don't think anybody can do this or what?
-

maybe 1% of GB can.

Im crap at them but there is a guy at my gym who does 110lb dbs for about 10 with them, strong dude

how the hell do you "swing" on standing shoulder presses? no wonder you involve so much back in you "shoulder" presses ::)

Seated Military presses are for twats and girls.

Press like 205 front for 4 hard reps... I can't behind the neck press it though.
Dumbells I stick with 80's for like 6-7 reps. 85 is heaviest my gym has.

for some reason shoulder presses just don't agree with me too well. i've done 205x4 as well, hit 225 for a double once. dumbbell-wise the most i've gotten was a pair of 105s for four. meanwhile i close-gripped 320 last saturday. my shoulders just blow, i think.
lately i just do standing militaries, 135 for sets of 8, pause at the bottom of each rep.

Exactly what I'm doing right now. 3 sets of 8 reps. For whatever reason it doesnt bother my fucked rotator cuff much, only bent rows and deadlifts do.

Did you just say what I think you said? Neither exercise should stress your rotator cuff in the least! The only times training back his hurt my shoulder was when I had tendonitis in my rotator cuff, you might want to get that checked out. Stop sleeping on your stomach.

Well whatever the fuck this nagging pain is. Fucking thing "pops" when I walk around.

what rep speed were u using for the positive and negatives (in seconds) im curious to see?
and wat do u think caused the rotator injury momentum, loose form or both.
-
If I was to guess what kind of weight I use, I would say I could grab Daddywaddy in my right hand and Mariachi in my left and press them both for 6 really good reps.

Hmm. Probably a 2-2. Very controlled and slowish. I think the problem was too much weight, going too low, and behind the neck! I always looked in the mirror and I went 'til the bar was just about touching the rear delts. Just too heavy, too low, btn and did it for years. It was probably inevitable it would go. I want a wayback machine on this one. :-\
-

if your a bodybuilder do em seated. standing is for the bi-curious (powerbuilders).

ah ok. yes 2-2 is a good speed, i think that it was probably over the years the wear and tear built up (especially since behind the neck). that is alot of weight i bet ur delts are huge. front presses pushed to the max poundage are a worry for the long term.
the most i ever did was with momentum 150 plus bar but it was not slow and controlled...i thank god i never injured myself doing those stupid ego presses...these days i think if i did it i would be much under 100 for sure but with good form. dont want to risk it.
-
Couldn't resist.

Who is that? Not one good rep. Why do people lift like this is beyond me.
-
Good lift!
Thanks Chris.
why don't you lower it all the way down?
I've been led to believe that any lower would only recruit chest fibres and increase chances of injury.
-
On all shouler exercises i always bring to claviceles.
as my tris overpower many exercises i have been doin bradford pressed.
at end of training cyclye before i back cycled i was capable of standing bradford press 200lbsx15
