Yeah thats ridiculous, he doesnt know any shame.

should be mandatory to use the same weights as the ones youre training with
otherwise you have no business being there in the first place

shawn used to train with fast reps.  do you think there is any benefit to this?  i know he is one of the best in the world, but i think its all genetics...

anyone try to train that fast, and did anyone experience good results?

Good question, I watch FLEX on Dish Network channel 223 from time to time, followed by fitness beach..hey what can I say I think Leeann Tweeden is one of the hottest things going...but I always thought he was super quick in his reps. There is a guy here in my gym that works out like that, and he did blow up in about 8 months, if he is on something he is taking a chance being military and all.

I liked watching that show back in the day

in the early-to-mid 90s, bodybuilding still had a bit of respect or exposure with regard to the mainstream, now if such a show existed all of the guys would be arrested on the spot by the feds as a steroid investigation  ;D

Chad Waterbury has had a lot of recent articles on the benefits of fast reps.  I tried it years ago and I didn't see many gains from it but hey different strokes for different folks.

Shawn Ray had a belt with his name on it.

Yea, these shows were filmed in December, I competed in September / October for the Olympia.
The show was sponsored by "Hot Skins" Active Wear, which explains why we were always wearing the Singlets Striped Tights they were trying to market back then.

My training pace has always been a bit quick but the poundages were relative to what I could lift for solid reps.

Classic show for sure, glad we documented it for the ages with bodybuilders like: Vince Taylor, Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheelere, Troy Zuke, Frank Zane, John Brown, Lee Priest, Lenda Murray, Flavio and more............
Enjoy,
S

I miss that comradery bodybuilding that flourished to the mid 90s. Now guys can be in the same city and never see each other in the gym.  :-\

BTW aren't you guys glad these went out of style along with Hotskins?  ;D

From what I still can remember, the exposure was surprisingly significant in my opinion because of how espn2 came on the scene in the fall 1993 and from year to year in the 90s time frame had a increasing amount of pro bodybuilding plus some featured fitness TV programming such as the memorable Fitness America series. What they did that was unusual and perhaps by design is how they showed a number of contests during the late night hours at unannounced times. Figure that out ???

how many did you film in a day?  probably did 4 a day and just filmed a few weeks?

paycheck was probably small huh, like 2 grand a show?

thanks shawn!

Yea, 4 shows a day, which meant, each show had 5 trainign segements. I had various Pro's waiting to come and kill my by the end of one show going into the next.
It was a Indepent Contract Fee for the 2 weeks of filming and worth my time.
I was pretty much wiped out after those two weeks and basically daily since I was the main host of the show.
Good time all around though.

One episode that was memorable was when Shawn went through a weight training session with Lenda Murray and Anja because of how happy he looked to take both of them through his co-ed workout.

the funniest one in my opinion was the one with Aaron Baker. He came across as the gayest man on the planet. It is very hard for me to believe that he isn't gay

i agree, but even with or without tats, lee looks a lot better in those shots.  if these were taped in december, why the hell is he so juiced up when its clear shawn is off (2-3 months after the olympia).

also, so 2-3 months off the juice, shawn looks incredible there!

I'm outside USA, so here they showed it sporadically(you know, usual bbing filler in-between other "sports"). Back in early 90's was last I saw it...
