Last year the pick of 2006 was for Jay Cutler to upset Ronnie by winning the Mr. Olympia contest.
This year, I will pick that Ronnie will NOT place 2nd or higher. He will place 3rd (if he's lucky) or lower.

Ronnie at the night show last year was a different story from pj but the damage was already done. I can't see Ronnie any lower than 2nd. Whatever happens, I just want to see a fair show with no politics. Personally I think this is a 5 person race for the thrown. Jay, Ronnie, Victor, Dexter, and Toney can all potentially win.

I cant see Ronnie anywhere other than first or second. A long time Mr. Olympia just doesn't drop that many places, its just never happened in the history of the Olympia. One time winners like Cutler, Chris Dickerson and Samir Bannout have however lost the title after winning the previous year. On the other hand it seems like in recent history that once a person wins the Olympia its next to impossible for them to lose it with the exception being Ronnie in 06 however that is after winning it eight times in succession. And it could be argued that at least two of those wins he did not deserve.

Part of the reason for my bet last year was that I see Ronnie's stock had peaked and is now on the decline. I think his physique declines everyday as well. He should have retired after losing to save himself the letdown.
Here's the thing tho - many believe that if the whole show had been held on Saturday, Ronnie would have won. Jay was better on Fri, but Ronnie was sliced on Sat. Obviously there was energy in the air and everyone kinda 'knew' by Sat afternoon. Ronnie slacked on getting dry, and it cost him. He figured it'd be a given that he win.
This year TRULY is the cost of redemption. He looked at the mirror every day this year and saw King JAY wearing his crown. Ronnie is 8-2 in Olympia competitions, and fighting for his competitive life. He is one dangerous animal.
Picture that. 8 wins, 2 losses in the Mr Olympia.
Ninth. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. Second.

Yes Ronnie has won 8 in a row, but everyone knows he didn't deserve 2 of those 8. Ronnie's gameplan is to keep on going even though he was injured and hasn't given his body the time needed to grow back from those injuries. If he gives into saying he injured himself, the hype (and the $$$) goes down. Of course the hype for the past 2 years starts to raise when pictures of him guestposing in heavy offseason condition (where it's really difficult to see the true effects of his injury) along with carrying a lot of water.
Of course, the hype players know that Ronnie won't be able to hide anything at this year's Olympia. Once a clear shot comes in, people will be able to see more into and the hype will die down.
His back, which was the deciding factor in his win of the '05 Olympia, has suffered from these 2 injuries he is rumored to have sustained. I don't think conditioning will help his deteriorating body. In fact, I think improved conditioning will only show these declines even more clearly.
Victor Martinez is coming into his own and living up to his potential. Not to mention he won the Arnold after reportedly being involved with that big drug bust in Florida, which was all in the news at the time. Victor's win was very critical. And I think he immediately put him in discussions about Jay and Ronnie.

Great point and great find! The Ronnie myth is dispelled even more! Everyone is beatable, Ronnie's legacy will be in the shadows of another great bodybuilder one day, just face it.

I'm not ignoring anything...you are forgetting how that game works. Plain and simple.
Ronnie won't win, plain and simple, there are too many things for him to overcome. Now had he taken time off and rested for a year, then I think he would have a better shot. But maybe winning 8 in a row has made him delusional about the situation and circumstances he's in.
The way the game works is Ronnie will be used to hype of this year's contest, and that's it.
