Title: "Phil heath of this year is nowhere near the phil heath of next year."

PHIL HEATH:

"I'm a little disappointed that I"m not doing it, because I did qualidy.

I'm going to bring up some bodyparts.  Come into 08 with a bigger, better package.

judges say I'm improving nicely.

I need to take time off.  Other guys have been doing this for a long time...

I have great respect for Dex and Melvin.  I've heard recently what they've said about not doing the O.  But... these guys have trained their butt off and they know how they progress, and they want to put me to shame.  For me not to get onstage might piss them off a little bit.

The exact same bullshit he said last year when he took an entire year off to get ready for this year's Arnold where he looked exactly the same as last year. If you're going to take an entire year off you better show up with some improvement.

Maybe this year he'll make the improvements he didn't last year.

And why is going to compete in the Ironman?  I'm assuming he's going to compete at the Arnold too, so that means he's going to compete in Feb and March and then compete again in the Olympia in Sept.

Why not just wait until next year's Europa or Montreal and qualify there instead of dieting down in the spring and again in the fall.

He makes no sense whatsoever.

No, it might mean he is doing what Flex did. Flex used the Ironman as gauge for getting ready for the Arnold. Flex was typically one to two weeks out for the Arnold  by the time he did the Ironman, because the Arnold was typically one weekend away. Which left him time to adjust. And lets face it, Flex has the record for Arnolds and Ironmans.

So I gather Phil might be trying to do that :-\

My point is why compete in any of the spring shows if he's trying to take time off to get ready for the Olympia.

Take off the entire year and qualify at the august or september shows.

interesting thing bodybuilding is! we have a top guy taking 2 years off for the "betterment" of the "sport"

oddly enough bodybuilding seems less about body building and more about who can come in the "driest"

as silly as this sounds we need a have a 4 weeks out contest..this will give people like DJ a chance to show their physical attributes

Can there be a bumpy delt round?

I think King might actually win this one.

Same ol' song and dance from heath. "Oh, I need more time" crap.

I believe any new guy should do the O regardless. What is that fool gets injured or tears something and then what? that opportunity is GONE!

Heath, do the O and shut up!

Way too much talk and not enough time onstage.  What's happened to the old days of Flex, Kevin and Chris?  They competed in as many shows as possible during the mid to late 90s because they wanted the $$ and knew they had the goods to nab it.

Phil definitely has Mr. Olympia-quality bodyparts - arms, delts, legs, calves. As I see it, his ONLY flaw is beyond his control - clavicle width. Nonetheless, Phil could collect some nice cash choosing to compete in the majors and taking 3rd-6th or winning several smaller shows.

He did improved however his competition was much more seasoned!

he will never be mr o, just flownder around the top 5 with 1 or 2 top 3 placings!

just bad genetics for what the mr o is all about "width and mass in the back"!

I can see him winning the arnold though when the big guys of the next era sit out of it !

Unless they take it in a new direction, which has happened before.

Remember, Frank zane and Chris Dickerson have won the olympia against guys way bigger than them

Agreed. He made zero improvements and even got worse in a few areas. If he takes time off and actually makes improvements then it's great but if he takes that time off and does nothing like this last time - what's the point?
