Title: Is this stuff good or bad for Weight loss?
Post by: Honour on August 29, 2007, 12:57:00 AM
Sup guys, my missus was just prescribed some Symbicort containing Budesonide/eformoterol fumarate dihydrate and is wondering if it will make her put on weight as a side affect?

I did a search on the net and couldn't find anything out. I think it is actually some form of steroid so if anything it would help with fat loss wouldn't it? Anyone know of any side affects good or bad?

Cheers in advance guys, any info would be great 8).

I would definitely read this: http://www.fda.gov/cder/Offices/ODS/MG/budesonide.pdf

presuming that the symbicort has been prescribed as an inhaled form of therapy then the dosage is unlikely to be high enough to cause any significant weight gain. I would warn however that there have been very rare cases of adrenal suppression from the use of inhaled corticosteroids ( so don't stop them suddenly).

NB for others reading this thread - budesonide is a corticosteriod and NOT an AAS. It has no muscle building qualities at all.

Eformoterol however could have the potential for weight loss; but not at inhaled dosages and as far as I am aware it does not come oraly. Better stick to the tried and tested clen/ ECA stacks. (but only if that's your knid of thing!)

Yes it was perscribed to her for Asthma. Thanks for the info though guys. It seems to be going well for her atm and no side affects :).
