Aston Martin has revealed the production version of its new DBS coupe. A concept was revealed roughly 16 months ago, followed by an appearance in the James Bond film Casino Royale.
The production car will go on sale in early 2008, with the first public unveiling taking place this week at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The DB9's 6.0 liter V12 finds a new home in the DBS, albeit with more power. Output is rated at 510 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.
Slightly lighter than a DB9 at 3,737 lbs, the DBS rockets to 62 mph in a claimed 4.3 seconds. A top speed of 191 mph should satisfy most Autobahn cruisers.
Carbon ceramic brakes and foot-wide Pirelli tires keep all the power in check.
When unveiling the concept version last year, CEO Ulrich Bez said the DBS "is not of the understated elegance of a DB9, nor the youthful agility of the V8 Vantage. It is explosive power in a black tie and has its own unique character which will equal that of James Bond."

That is an awesome car. I drive an M3 and I love it, but that car would be nice. I wonder what they are asking for it?

Think 300K+...
Beautiful car, but I think they need to up the power to play with the Ferrari 599 GTB.
-
Interior is as sexy as the exterior.
Fucking decent.

I agree. They are a bit underpowered. Aston's are gorgeous, but they are def lacking in hp considering how much they weigh.
I am in love with the new alpha romeo 8c. Cant forget the Maserati gran tourismo. Stunning car. Imo the Maserati is the best looking car out right now. The alpha is a close second imo.

Those cars are too feminine.

The Maserati has been talked about for its muscular and aggresive look. Maybe these picks dont do em justice.

Wups sorry, the pic of the Maserati didn't load. Yeah I agree it's ace.

I think that red makes the Alpha look kinda fem... You got a point there.

Have you seen it in black....It was at the Geneva Auto show...it was sexy and sinister at the same time...I want one, in black, or dark metallic blue.

Yes. I love the Maserati. I would like one with black wheels. Either black on black, Or silver with black wheels. The sinister comment was perfect. Refined yet brutal at the same time.
I like the nose/grill on both cars.

Actually I was talking about the Alfa as well... The Maser I found out is a heavy car, a little over 4,000 pounds, so you know it more of a GT, like the SL55. The Alfa is more sports car, like a junior Ferrari 599 GTB, but to me sexier than the Ferrari.

ok ok Honest question
Would you let someone cut off your pinky toe for that car?
I would do it in a heart beat.
Dude that has been my dream car since 2000

What if you cut off your pinky toe, and got the car only to crashed it and lost the whole foot?
That would suck, but I had to play spoiler.

Spyker, with an Audi V8. The race car looks better, because the proportion of the nose looks better with the pumped up bodywork.

I'd say the same thing about a Mclaren F1

I love the Maserati too but I absolutely love the new Aston and the Vantage was the most beautiful car I've ever seen. It was absolutely stunning, pictures do not do it justice. The lines are just gorgeous. I'm sure the DBS will be the same way. The high end Aston's (not Jaguar clones) have a class and beauty that's nearly impossible to beat.

Thing about the pic above, is that the Aston has a Jag derived chassis, for the early 90's coupe. Because the the XK8 and the DB7 both were derived from that chassis. Ford did not give either of the two companies enough money to create their own chassis.
This is the Alfa Romeo 8C in black I was talking about to Body88

Some more, with a beauty on top

I know this is being petty but I've never liked the look of Alfa grills with the Alfa emblem.
I have no problem with shared components in certain instances but when two car companies make what appear to be clones, then it drives me nuts. The Aston Vantage and the Jaguar XK8 could be twins and Porsche and Volkswagen sharing the the same platform for the Cayenne and the Tourag while having them look so similar is another example. Made even worse by the fact that you can buy a $35,000 Tourag and a $120,000 Cayenne.

my fav. car

Just real pretty. I really like that Aston Martin too.
-
Only, the exterior is fucking awesome, but they ruin it with the interior. It looks down right camp, steering wheel looks like something off a small boat.

You ruined it with the rear shot, or should I say, "They ruined it". Too convoluted, almost like the total opposite of the TVR Tuscan, which back end is too sparse. They need a lesson from Ferrari, Nissan's GT-R or BMW and AUDI on how to make a good rear end.

The new Jag you posted is a all new platform, that shares nothing with the DB9 (which the DBS is based off of) , you posted a DB7, which chassis it shared with the XK8 from 1997-2006 (07).
Porsche did a copu with the Cayenne, because it has a Porsche suspension, engine (except for the Audi V6 which they added last year), and interior. ANd word has it that Porsche is trying to take over Volkswagen, which may see more vehicles like the Cayenne in the future
But have you seen the Aston Martin Rapide (4 door coupe), simply gorgeous vs. the akward looking Porsche 's (4 door coupe)?
