Title: What are the benefits of a bodybuilder turning pro?
Post by: ieffinhatecardio on September 04, 2007, 12:08:05 PM
I was just reading that Dave Pulcinella thread and I saw gh15 say something about Pulcinella turning pro.

What exactly does turning pro mean? Does he earn a salary from the IFBB? Do you get to charge your clients more because of turning pro?

I don't see the benefit of it, especially if you've been kicking around the bb world for more than a decade.

They compete for money.  Just like amateur vs. pros in olympics.

you get to sell fake drugs to unsuspecting teenagers and wanna be's...and you also are given the priviledge of getting fondled by the master blaster himself...

personally I don't see how one could raise training rates if he/she turns pro UNLESS you are catering exclusively to BBers. IMO, there really is no benefit exept the feeling of self-satisfation, the IFBB has provided no money and no security for their competiors but they reap the rewards of having they're face plastered on magazines and other BBing media.

That's it? You get to compete in shows that pay prize money?

So if you never finish in the money there's no monetary gain from turning pro?

Self satisfaction is nice but it doesn't pay the bills.

Once pro:

They can charge more for G-4-P session. They're no longer just some thong wearing amateur, they are now professional thong men.

Selling drugs is much easier. You no longer have to solicit people......business come TO YOU.

you also earn the right to call people haters and use the word haterade...make statements like--sick quads, or freaky genetics...and claim all natural status because on top of all the drugs you blast into your body you also drink cell tech...you also can claim to eat 30lbs of orange roughy a week, or 12 sirloin steaks a day...and shoulder press 475 for 3 reps.

oh..and how can i forget!? you are entitled to use the term "spill-over" when you f**k yourself up with too many drugs and look like a big fat piece of shit...

I think the real benefit is that you get to constantly use the term "bro" in all forms of conversation.

Nothing is more inspiring than hearing a 38 year old manage to slip bro into a conversation every sixth word.

They turn pro so they don't have to keep sucking in their gut all the time.

Most of the advantages and "privileges" you guys mentioned are already enjoyed by some amateurs. MD for example has given several covers to amateurs this past year.

The best benefits of turning pro are wearing a fanny pack 24 hours a day and getting your picture taken a lot while giving the thumbs up.

Some more so. Internationally, many national champions are compensated for winning, and the amounts are often more than many pro shows, 6 figures have been known in the Asian region. Even here, at the very least once you win a national title, you dont have to pay a single competition expense [airline tickets, hotel etc] and receive money, not a huge amount...but money all the same.

1.  your individual brand increases in value
2.  your oil stained posing trunks are worth more.
3.  the private posing rates go up(gay for Pay)
4.  score faster dates.
5.  muscle gallery and all the rest of the video companys want you.
    but that's about it.

You are more likely to be endorsed by a Snake Oil seller/company.

You may now go out and pretend to live the "athlete" lifestyle.....even if only for a few months, till shit gets repossessed.

You earn the right to burn thru your kidney.

You now get discounts on thongs, and may buy them at wholesale prices.

Nope, sure doesn't, that's why it's just pure self-satisfaction. The only reason why I decided to compete again is fo self-satisfaction and unfinished business.

Amateurs get to dance for fags on the Sea Tea in the NYC area.   Pros get to do similar types of things in nicely-furnished offices in Woodland Hills.  ;D

He's allowed to make a living as a bodybuilder, and can accept prize money.
