Title: Contest won and lost based on striated glutes
Post by: flexingtonsteele on September 05, 2007, 02:23:09 AM
is the stupiest fuckin thing ive ever seen in bodybuilding, and in my opinion its becoming to common these days.

I posted this in another thread, and thought it deserved a thread of its own

Oh yea, another pet peeve of mine.

When a bodybuilding contest is solely judged on how tightly shredded a mans ass is, I will fuckin shoot myself in the head.......

i hate when i read these queer reviews of bb shows and all they talk about is how " insert name here" glutes werent striated.......

Who gives a fuck how tight another mans ass is, what does that have to do w/symmetry and asthetics??

Who started that "trend" anyway?

I remember Thorvilsen being "known" for that shit... then Plalumbo (disguisting)..

Someone should ask him that on pbbw

I just posted this in the thread about calves, but here it is again.

If a bodybuilder can get striated glutes, then good on him i guess, but there is no need to hitch up the posing trunks. We can see enough of the glutes (from a judging perspective) with the trunks worn the proper way, so the guys have to literally stop taking it so far.

Ronnie Coleman has been hiking his trunks up the ass for years, without the lame ass judges at the Olympia doing shit about it.

Whether you like it or not, Mr O is the big show, and the others follow suit.

I think it's time for Cicherillo, Solomon or some other reporter to ask the head judges what will happen if the competitors tries this shit at this years O, and what kind of point deductions will be made if it's done.

This shit's got to stop, it's making bodybuilding look like some Jimmy Z production.

The only thing that's missing on the O stage, will be derekanthony.

straited glutes is a good indicator of general level of shreddness. it's like saying "look at me, im so sliced and diced EVEN the glutes are shredded!"

hope this helps.

LOL @ DA at the O, and well said.

I still recall the MD cover with that pic of Ronnie in the thong, just like an enormous pic of his butt. I so cringed in embarrassment to even be a part of the bodybuilding community when I strolled through the pharmacy and saw the mag on the shelf :-\

Exactly.
People think that being a bodybuilding fan is weird enough, but to look at pics or have magazine covers or posters with guys basically wearing thongs, it is simply embarrassing.

I liked in the old days much better when the men wore trunks that covered their entire ass!

And maybe its not a coincidence but bodybuilding was a much more popular sport back then

Very true. I mean even if they don't hitch the trunks up their arse, they are still way too small. Just look at the size of Gunters trunks for christ sake. Bring back the speedo like trunks.

I think it started with Hamdullah Aykutlug . At least he is the earliest I remember in 93 . I'm sure there were others before. But it was first noticed in the early nineties and became Hamdullah's trademark along with his unparalleled conditioning.

I believe it was rich gaspari in 86 or 87 that came into a contest with noticeably shredded glutes for the first time.  Since then guys have been pulling underwear up their asses onstage to this day...

striated glutes is the new generation of bodybuilding. when you diet hard you eventually come across striated chest then striated quads then triceps and last, only if you have the balls to go this far, strated glutes.if you have a hard time accepting this well, new standards are often hard to comprehend

Can't find a pic right now, but Renel Janvier was I believe the first to have striated glutes, but in all fairness, the dude was just shredded all over.

It is also a great way to say, "I'm gay.  Come pound my ass."  ;D

I agree with the others.  Who gives a shit about striated glutes?  If the competitor is shredded, it will be apparent without showing the glutes.  It is just another way that bodybuilding gives the mainstream a message that says, "Bodybuilding is gay".
