Title: The myth of long training hours!
Post by: Bluto on September 07, 2007, 02:42:25 AM
People either use "it takes too long" as an excuse for going to the gym in the first place or they like to talk about how long they're training like it should be admirable!

I'm watching BFTO 2003 right now and ronnies whole leg routine in his home gym takes less than 30 minutes!

He's doing front squats, followed by hack squats, walking lunges on the street outside, seated legcurls and standing one leg at a time legcurls. Most sets for 12 reps and he even got time left to vacuum clean (!) and stretch!

Aint nuthin to it, but to do it!

with each minute and set that goes by ur intensity output drops...this is human nature.

people dont understand the meaning of 'intensity' they confuse it with 'endurance'.

Interesting concepts.

I remember when I first started I'd spend hours in "da gym" but then when ya know I had my arms up to like 19", fuck around get my legs up to like 40" I was like "10 mins and I'm out".

Now I just sit around jerking off to Mulone Rouge and eating triscuts with EZ Cheese. I don't know where I'm going with this but whatever....

How do you know it takes less than 30 mins? Was it shot in real time or was the editing 30 minutes long? I don't think I've ever done a full leg workout shorter than 30 minutes.

Was thinking the same thing. I think it is impossible to do all those exercises, lets just say 4 sets each, in 30mins. And even if you could, you would get about a 10sec break between sets.

My workout never takes longer than 1 hour.. that includes my shower and changing, I simply don't have the time since I have to go to work after that, I noticed that I have a lot better results since I have been doing this... last year when I was still training with my Workout partner it would take sometimes (especially legday) 2 hours....fast and intense is much better.

i remember back in 04, broadstreet and myself would setup webcams at our gyms in front of the squat rack.

then we'd try to outdo each other on squats while broadcasting it to each other.

one time, 32 hours we did squats.  32 hours straight, all on webcam.

ha ha, i finally gave up after my last set of 45 with 225.

reduce the sets to one working set per exercise. see the difference. i guarantee u will 1: feel better u wont be exhausted, ur receptors wont be overtaxed, and u will grow more. and 2) ur workout will be more itnense u will lift heavier and concentrate better with better contractions. 3) u will be more efficient.

a great example is this. imagine lifting to ur maximum capacity for 8 reps in a set of shoulder presses for failure (i mean all out everything u got)

then try it again (i guarantee u will only get half the reps if not less)

try it again (even worse u might not be able to lift the weight!)

now do u see what i say about intensity here. The intensity (the output) decreased with each set. therefore to workout for an hour effectively it is one hour of low intensity exercises...as the body can only handle 4-5 sets of maximum intensity lifting to failure.

I tried hard to not like the movie but that bollywood dance routine at the end just pulls me in and doesn't let go.

Pretty much in real time, and that included warm ups etc that I didn't even count

Ronnie doesn't mess around, it's all business!
