I see alot of guys out there that are nowhere near pro physque status or even near the level they were at when they got their pro card---i.e Kamali
I could name numerous NPC amatuers who would dominate King or some other IFBB pro's in a competition------
I think that some lower tier pros should be made to qualify and compete against each other to keep their pro status----
look at pro football players---only the best stay in the league regardless of their name or what they've done in the past---------
I think this would add excitement and really elevate the competitive level of the IFBB

Man in 2001 he actually looked somewhat decent, and now he has just super fucked his body up...
-
Let's see:
Kamali
Kovacs
Kenny Jones
Jocelyn Peletier

I wouldn't quite put Kamali in there just yet. The other three definitely but Kamali is on the verge of borderline Palumboism - another year or two and he'll be finished.

Aren't too many things more exciting on a pro stage than seeing peletier (sp) with all the other physiques that actually belong there. King is still one of the more popular bbers and generate alot of excitement. If you're a promoter you want him in your show. He probably have more threads about him than all other pro's combined regardless of the fact that they're mostly negative.
I understand what you mean though.

Titus did look awesome here though :o

There would need to be some type of objective way to measure this if it were to be put in action; for example not placing in three consecutive pro shows.

that would be a good measure
im sure they could come up with something fair that would add excitement and intensity to competitions
imagine if some pros were fighting for their pro status--I guarantee the level of competition would be raised

Wow, looking at this thread proves that EVERYONE looked better about 10 years ago. Everyone on here just took a giant step backwards :-\

I totally agree
it has to be gh and insulin fu*king up these guys----i dont know what else to blame it on

I think we all know the answer
its a sad state BBing is in now :'(

Yep, again, not so much the GH as it is the insulin, Gh has been around forever, insulin came into the game around the late 90's and that's when things started changing for the worse and idiot judges started rewarding and ending careers based on that look.
-
all jokes aside...is his prime titus was pretty fucking sick

are these pros insulin dependent after abusing it for so long??
are they forcing themselves in diabetes??
cause if they are its crazy!!!!! Diabetes is some horrible sh*t---its defintly not worth what they gain from BBing :-\

I remember a couple of years ago when he posted here / titus. a get bigger asked him how come he didn't look the way he did when he won the nationals. Titus response was that he didn't want to risk health using that much gear :-\
-
IM not doggin Levrone here--------he is actually one of my all time favorite BBer's and no one can argue that he isnt a legend--along with that he was one of the smartest BBer's, he knew when to retire and not sacrifice his health for BBing
this pics just demonstrate how extreme the upper echelon BBer's have to go to be able to compete at the highest level

i think he looks great here--and is more jacked than 98% of the population but there is a drastic differnce

*bump
great thread ;) ;D

Yeah, that loose skin under his nipple(s) looks really great.
Even better, he actually had that OPERATED on because whatever the fuck he did to have it get there...BODYbuilding couldn't fix it. Hell, even after that, the operation didn't fix it.
>:(

Well, he tore his pec, and after that it seemed like he was scared to bench, his chest down hill from there.
-
Kamali should be thrown out. He wouldn't even be able to regain his procard.

Just irks me that he had an operation when most guys do something IN THE GYM. And he still didn't get it fixed.
Oh well, he got his in "the end." Unfortunately so did someone else less deserving than Craiggers. >:(
-
Great idea, why should you get a lifetime exemption as a pro as long as you pay your card dues. I would create a ranking system, something along the lines of what Ron has done. The top 50 at the end of each year stay as pros, the others return to the amateurs. This would also force guys to compete more to keep their ranking up.
-
Another way to do it, if you don't finish in the top 6 of any show over a 3 year period, it's back to the amateurs.

I'm sure the amateurs would be very receptive to that.... ::)
-
can you imagine how the sport would have changed had this physique been kicked out instead of winning the MR. OLYMPIA?
hahahahahahaha

Im not trying to put Levrone down, he is one of my favorite all time BBers---believe me, He looks better in the 2nd pic than 99% of people I know including myself-----plus Kevin retired himself, his body did not retire him!!!!!!!!
Im just showing how big he used to be
-
:o

kevin looks amazing in those pics.
What about the guys that turn pro and remain looking like shit (chris cook, charles ray arde) imsure there are more
-

Are you in favor of lifetime exemptions for pro status? There's nothing wrong with setting a roster limit, it makes things a little more competitive. Come on Bob, I follow the competitions closely, but here are a few names from the NY Pro list: Bola Ojex, Zoran Vejic, Emro Karaduzovic, Roland Huff, & Elvis Brown; have you even heard of these guys? If someone slips through the cracks and becomes a pro, they should have to at least be competitive.

They've al earned the right to compoete as a pro...placing will determin how long they last on the circuit. Whats the harm in them competing? If they're not good enough, they get few comparisons anyway...
There have been many cases of middle of the pack pro's who improved dramatically...like a guy named Ronnie Coleman

It should be done like golf. If you keep failing to make the top 12 or 15 ("the cut") , lets say, then after a while, you should be relegated back to the NPC ("Q-school"), in order to get back in the IFBB. This is the best way. It keeps only the best talent in, and pretty much avoids embarrasments, like your boy, or Kovacs, or Jocelyn....
-
yes, they should.
as a pro you should be required to present a physique that is worthy of being a pro. You're not a pro baseball player for life, you have to uphold a certain standard or you are cut or sent down to the minors, same with every "sport" that matters.
you get a line up and you get a few decent guys at the smaller shows and the rest are also rans, ham and eggers or whatever. I say if you haven't been top 10 in a show for 2 years (and have competed during that time or if you have not entered a show in 5 years) you should be required to enter a show and have a respectaible showing if not you need to requlify to be a pro.
-
you mean like the guy that was fired from UFC ...i think it should be mandatory to place in the top 10 at least once or your outta here!!!
-
if this was set in the IFBB---you wouldnt see anymore debacles like the fat, smooth, mulleted Lee Priest that was in the O some years back.
it would make the pros more focused and would put a lot more on the line----------Ive noticed a lot of guys who look great getting their pro card and never again look that good ie Duvall etc...
seems like the fans want this
-

This wouldn't be for middle of the pack guys like an early Ronnie Coleman, but for bottom of the pack guys (like most on the list for the NY Pro). It could be a very fair criteria, like top 10 in a show over a 3 year period, that's not asking too much. The harm in letting everyone stay is that some shows start looking more like PDI than IFBB.
-
The worst physiques simply quit after spending lots of money that they never get back preparing for shows and never landing a contract.
