Title: Birthday Gift ?
Post by: The_Iron_Disciple on September 10, 2007, 03:45:26 PM
My Girlfriend has a Birthday coming up next Month and I'm trying to think of what to get her ... any Ideas ? I don't have a lot of Money but I don't want to come off cheap ... this Woman means the World to me and I love her with all my Heart ! So far, the only thing that I can think of is renting out a Hotel room for one night ( you know, get her away from the House ) ... but that's ALL that I can think of, so far.  :-\

Things that don't cost a lot but show you truly love her include

a romantic picnic (wine candles etc)

renting a hot tub for an hour or 2(rose petals in the water, wine, romantic music)

lot's of great things that don't cost a lot of $$$

Whatever you decide, ...make sure the gift is about HER, and chosen with her pleasure / happiness in mind.

Massages work really well. Got my gf one a few months ago and even left the house so she could have a break, LOL!

If it's month away she'll probably drop a few hints in what she thinks is your price range. For example: My gf's I-pod was on the fritz so she got one for her birthday.

That one would be memorable! I wouldn't even care if a guy had previously done with 6 of his ex's either  :D

How about a gift certificate for her to spend a day at the spa. She'll love it. That and 6 long stem red or white roses and a card. Be creative when writting the card. It means more then you think. Take your time with it. Good luck.

Beyond it making women happy I don't understand Tiffany jewelery at all. I've paid for it in the past and will again in the future but the stuff really doesn't appeal to me at all.

That being said, the response was worth the cost every time. :)

Anyone that would do that is a gold digger in my book.

Don't they usually dig where there is gold to be found?

Let's see...where to begin.......

First...Toxi, I'm surprised at you.  Yellow roses are for friendship.  One should go with pink (romance) or white (purity) then follow the last with a red one.

Second...Michael, Mr. Discrete cough cough.  When do I ever ask for anything?  Never.  >:(

Gold Digger over the lowest end piece of Tiffany that I like because of the style and not the name?  Hell Michael could pick up a knock off and I would be happy.  I chose the silver oval ID tag style necklace.  $285.  I hardly would call that GOLD DIGGING.  roflmao!!!!!!!!!!

Next year I'll give you a tub of rose petals baby for your birthday instead of a portable DVD player, or a car stereo, or a new cell phone with service, or ....well, I'll just stop there.  ;)   I love you!!!!  :-*

I knew a girl whose boyfriend bought her a 10pt. diamond ring for her birthday. When he gave it to her, she beamed with pride thanking him profusely, telling him how much she loved it. She placed it on the ring finger of her left hand. Then she went over to her jewellry box, brought it back to the couch, ...opened it up, and proceeded to take out her 7.5 carat marquise cut cognac Diamond, that she placed on the middle finger of her right hand, and said "Now I have a ring for each hand, ...and she held both her hands out to show him. The look on his face was indescribable. Even though he was a dick, I really felt sorry for him at that moment. She didn't let up either. LOL. For weeks afterwards. She would beam and glow and display it to everyone. "Look... Chris bought me a diamond for my birthday." Then she would hold out both hands, and say "Now I have a ring for each hand. Thank You Honey" and she'd plant the biggest kiss on him. I felt so sorry for him everytime she did that. I'd just look at Chris, and see the guy literally cringe. Needless to say... 6 months later at Christmas, ...he gifted her with a 5 carat emerald cut Emerald framed with 10pt diamonds. I thought that was sooo cruel of her, ...but then again, those two did deserve each other.  :P

Just to give you an idea of the scale difference for those of you who don't know diamonds:
          .     vs      .

left hand               right hand

The dot to the left accurately reflects the size of the stone Chris bought her.
The dot to the right is about 1/2 the size of the stone of her cognac diamond,
...and roughly about the exact size of the emerald centre stone he bought her for Christmas.

Now her hands look a little more balanced.  ;D

That was a very thoughtful thing to do. Nice gift!

Chris didn't buy her the emerald because he was thoughtful, ...he bought it because he thought the other one looked like it came from the bottom of a crackerjack box compared to her cognac diamond, ...which btw was from a previous beau. He thought his gift made him look like a putz, and that he couldn't measure up to the ex. That was her intent in flaunting both rings... to illustrate the disproportionate size difference between them.

That emerald was all about his ego and her greed. That's why I say they deserved each other.  ;D
