I've done a few bulk and cut cycles and I am actually very good at sticking to my diet. It usually mainly consists of chicken, tuna, brown rice, oatmeal, protein shakes, and healthy fats. However I always notice towards the end my muscles deflate and I can't get really lean without looking flat. So this time around I started to loosen my diet up a bit adding things like white rice, red meat, and even Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches (first thing in the morning) and it seems like I am doing pretty well losing fat and my muscles still have pretty good fullness. It seems for me the ultra-strict bodybuilding diet doesn't work that well for me (sorry too lazy to post my entire diet right now ;D) My question is has anybody else noticed better results cutting by loosening up their diets?

i guess this is wht im facing as well dude.. im worried by time i finish dieting im gonna look flat :S
some says dieting doesnt mean cuttin down carbs.. they ask to increase carbs. ( not to fall for low carb diets) and another part says.. cut down carbs..

The worst thing one can do when dieting is over think the whole thing.
Energy in vs Energy out.... Very simple equation.

Yep, its called fasting

yes dieting too hardcore is possible, mix up the diet (change the macronutrient ratio) to keep the body guessing and to keep yourself from burning out.

Ive heard it said, " if you dont feel like crap, your not dieting hard enough ". I do think you can diet to hard , just look at an anorexic.
