Jut thought I'd let you all know that I've sent word of American Gladiators to a few people, and Julie Childs sent me an e-mail back and said that she has been chosen to be a finalist on the show!
Congrats to Miss Childs...she's inching closer and closer to becoming a gladiator!!!

I just spoke with Julie and she is NOT a finalist. She tried out for fun and has her fingers crossed that she gets a callback to go further in the process but at this time she simply tried out. There are still try-outs being held across the country and the finalists have not been chosen. Julie said she had fun, it would be great if she made it further but at this time that's as far as it has gone. She will let us know if she does get a callback on becoming a finalist.
Julie is excited for the Olympia and is focused on that right now.

Quick question - who came up with the nickname "Shipwreck"? I like the wordplay, but the term itself seems to imply that she's damaged goods or something.

Julie's last name use to be SHIPley and in her interview they came up with "the wrecker". They combined the two and coined her ShipWreck.
We all know Julie is anything but damaged goods. ;D

That was my fault...on the e-mail she sent me, it said she was a finalist. I based the start of the thread on that without giving it a second thought. I wasn't thinking at the time. I sent her one back promising her to keep my mouth shut about it until she officially gave confirmation.
I'm sorry for any confusion I might have caused here... :(

I think you misunderstood Julie's response. I spoke with her on the phone at length and she's never been told she was a finalist only received a call to try out. No worries either way. We'll see what comes of it.
