Sadly I think that its true.
It was on the news like 6 hours ago and hasn't been confirmed in either way. If he was still alive that would have been confirmed already.

I read on autospies.com that he and his three sons died near his house. Tragic, i started watching Rally racing because of him.

Didn't he drive for Subaru? I remember him from a decade ago, he was fantastic. I always thought his popularity with that car is what gave Subaru the impetus to sell a detuned version of it here in the States.

Yeah, probably a combo, but McRae's media attention and video games lead to a subaru in every neighbourhood in England. One per houseold in paki areas.
