I agree 200 % with you. arnold was huge, tall and looked athletic and healthy, jay is short, has a fridge build, looks like every movement he makes costs tons of energy, is boring as fuck.

It's funny how people like Arnold, Gaspari, Kawak, etc used to be criticized for having a large waist. Don't know if they ever said it about Arnold, but criticisms on Gaspari and Kawak were about being "blocky". They would be among the aesthetic ideal today.
They were blocky because of their structure (genetics)....Arnold, wide hips, couldn't help it but new how to pose to give the illution of a small waist. Gaspari damn near made up for his subpar genetics with unreal conditioning, Kawak was just thick all over, didn't have a gut but had thick ab structure.
Nowadays having fucked up symmetry and a big gut is self-induced and the dumb ass judges are rewarding them for it >:(

hey arnold is great but lets face it if he were competing today in order to get on top he would probably look like shit on gh and insulin. and dont tell me he wouldnt take it. his legs would probably not be so great ever and his stomach would get humongous but e wouldnt have the shoulder width to balance it out.

Of course he would. Not to be a total purist about it, but I do think bodybuilding was at its best prior to 1990.

arnold would look awesome with slin and growth
Did you see what happend to ferrigno when he got back in the game in the 90s, and thats only with modern drugs, im not completely sure if he did growth or slin...he was looked amazing. Now multiply that by a hundred and your close to what arnold would look like with todays drugs and training advances

He looks so good in that shot because of the size of his waist compared to his pecs. It's all about illusion. You put that chest on a modern day bb'er with a 40 inch waist, all of a sudden it looks average.
