Has anyone else's protein prices gotten ridiculous? I keep my receipts and 6 months ago I bought a 2lb container of GNC for $24. It was $39 yesterday. I switched to ON Whey....has anyone else noticed outrageous prices where they are?
-
Yes everybody is higher. Just look at the price of a gallon of milk.
-
Yes, the price of whey especially has really shot up in recent months. I believe her majesty Princess L began a thread on this a short time ago.
Keep your eyes opened.
Some sites may still have some older product at the lower prices; may.
I know that DPS did, but that was about a good month or two ago.
Maybe longer.

GNC is over priced anyway. I spend about 400 dollars a month on sups and get way more for my money at bodybuilding.com !

Check out the new Gemma Protein Isolate made by Trueprotein. It begins at $4.89 a pound, which is pretty cheap. It is derived from peas, but it's amino acid profile is very similar to whey. Whey is going to just keep going up, so they created this alternative: http://www.trueprotein.com/Product_Details.aspx?cid=22&pid=6816

Yeah, I forewarned everyone back in April, but alas ...*sigh* once again few listened. :-\
At least someone around here appreciates me :-* It's not just whey, it's all dairy and ANYTHING (all the way down to baby formula) that uses it in their ingredient list
-
Yea I got a rude surprise when I went to order another 50lb box of whey the other day in the form of a $100 price raise.

I go through 8 containers of protein a month, $240 , 2 containers of ALRI Primed $60 , 1 container of Now Carbo Gain $15 and 2 containers of Vitargo $72 . That doesent even include vitamins extra aminos and glutamine I use. I built my body with real weights....my nutrition requirements are probably a lot higher than yours ;D

my friend works at gnc and when anybody ever returns any supplements they buy the workers there are supposed to throw them away if they are used at all...so my friend has like 20 lbs of whey protein and every supp. imaginable at his house.
two months ago he gave me two of the super sized "100% whey" protein containers...so i havent had to buy any for quite a while.

8 containers? What brand are you using? i take 6 servings a day (3 double serving shakes 48 grams per) and ingest 250-300 grams a day total and only use 2 2lb jugs a month.

Two words: VITAMIN SHOPPE!!!
Vitamin Shoppe is having a "buy one; get one 50% off" on all of their name brand products throughout the month of September. They have two kinds of whey protein: Whey Tech and Tetrabolic, both of which is part of their "BODYTECH" supplement line.
Whey Tech goes for $25 for a 5-lb jug. (a serving is 24g, 17g of which is whey protein, mostly concentrate). I just bought three of them along with some of their creatine-glutamine product, liquid aminos, and a Trib product (Python) for just under $100.
The special is on their online store, www.vitaminshoppe.com; the shipping is rather cheap. It's $5 for standard shipping (4-6 business days). However, I recommend the "Super Saver Shipping". it's only $3 and delivers anywhere from 3-10 business days. However, Super Saver Shipping is FREE, when you order at least $100 worth of stuff.
That should help ease the pain of purchasing protein powder.

I use Exteme Labs Pro Lean Mass, 2 servings=100 grams, I do 2 shakes a day mixed with Carbo gain as a meal replacement then post workout I have 100 grams of whey isolate. Lately its been AST VP2 or Syntrax Nectar. I like to get in around 500 grams of protein a day. I weigh 280 off season and compete around 230.

Paid $27 for a 2.5 lb of designer protein...fuggers...if i take it like i usually do, that would translate into appx $120 a month!!!
Im just gonna take 2 scoops for breakfast, and thats it...the rest will come from food...

I have to eat on the run at work so I do the protein shakes, Chicken Breast would cost as much if not more anyway. Id rather eat Fish or Beef theses days.
-
I remember I used to get a 5/lb tub of ON whey for $25.
Last order the stuff cost $37. What is the deal?
-
do a search... both ron and prinL posted information about the rising price of whey....

True story. Pig farms are extremely large in china and a majority of pig feed stems from whey. The american governement trades it off and leaves the rest for us, though I have no need for whey....
-
It just keeps going up i think optimum went up like three times
-
I just received all of the 5-lb.jugs of BodyTech’s (Vitamin Shoppe’s) Whey Tech. I hope some of you guys took my advice and stock up during the September “Buy One; Get One 50% OFF” promotion on all of Vitamin Shoppe’s products.
If not, then another venue would be to check various GNCs to see if they have any protein powder marked down (i.e. the big jug of GNC Mega Whey that my wife picked up for me, for $28).

wtf are you going to GNC for ?
Because I like going to GNC, particularly when they have marked-down products that I can buy and especially, when I buy them using my Gold Card.
And, as you can see, I shop as various places to get good deals on protein powder: Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, even Sam's Club, that sells the very same protein powder you just mentioned for $26 (actually, my wife shops at Sam's Club; if I don't already have protein powder, I'll ask her to pick up some from there).

The ONLY reason I go to GNC is because I live on an Army post. The prices are already discounted plus I get the gold card every day of the month. They also price match places like the commissary. I can get 4 pack MM RTDs for $3.70. They are regularly priced $6.99 but with the price match plus 20% off it is like getting one free.

hahaha Geo probably hasn't been in a GNC in 15 years ::)
