DVD sales can put some real change in their pockets. They have very few ways to make money. Once you seen a good clip, do you need to buy the DVD?
-
The clips are just "teasers"......................sh ow a little/get the audiences interest
sell the DVD
i usually buy a DVD after i have seen a clip of it first
-
THe BB.com clips usually just show one bodypart being trained,a good training DVD should have a lot more to offer (the usual grocery store thing,at home etc, tanning)
id like to see a PRO going out to a nite-club on these tapes (peoples reactions),walking venice beach boardwalk, out in public more (again peoples reactions)
instead of the same ole boring stuff
-
Like this ->
The publics reaction is always funny.

In the "old days" before the internet and BB.com doing succh a great job bring us these videos, youtube, ect.,bodybuilders had more of a mystic. There was more a distance between the bbs and fans. Getting a DVD was something special.
-
Bodybuilding DVDs are ALL overpriced no way in hell I'm paying $40 + for a DVD ( I'm not above paying for a DVD if its worth it I paid $120 for the Ken Burns Civil War set ) they would double their sales if they sold them for $20 the content always leaves a lot to be desired I mean how original can you get with these things?
-
heh, most my dvd's r either copied or downloaded form limewire

Hell the best I could manage back in the day was taping Haney off of ESPN lol

I think bbing.com is promoting the show and athlete by adding hype and is beneficial to the bodybuilder.
-
Bodybuilding DVDs don't sell anymore anyway. Sales are down about 90%.
Also, how does one go about throwing $1,000 on the prize purse of the Olympia or Arnold? ??? Discuss.

But how about financuially?
-
Weren't the bbers doing the BFTO for free anyways? They got like 3 DVD's a piece as compensation, or something....
-
IMO there are only TWO real bodybuilding DVD's... Pumping Iron and Blood and Guts. That's it, lol..
all the other ones are just siblings to those two monster dvd's!

How do you figure? Don't most DVD's end up on Youtube almost immediately?
-
my favorits is final countdown!!
Shaw Ray fan, huh? :-\
-
I find it hard spending $30 on a bodybuilding DVD
and besides as someone pointed out you can get them on bittorrent for free
-
All you need is:
Blood and guts
Cost of redemption
Made in Germany
The rest are garbage that you might as well watch on youtube.
-
250 sales x $30 = $7500
After expenses, a mid-level bodybuilder (in terms of popularity) should expect to clear about $4000 in the first year and will then have a small residual in the years after that.
A lot of fans like buying Downloads on Demand, however, because they don't have to wait for the DVDs to arrive in the mail.
For the time being, though, DVDs are a good product for bodybuilders to sell.

Unless your name is Ronnie or Jay, I can say with great certainty that this is not the case.

I bet the RAW Unchained is selling like hot cakes ::)

Assuming a mid-level pro is bringing in somewhere around $80,000/year in whatever his occupation is, an extra $4000 is pretty good money.
-
I remember Jay Cutler saying in FHM maybe? That his dvd stack in his garage may birng in 20,000

I prefer to think of that DVD as the "Jackass" of bbing.....
