10,000 billion tons of conventional fuel under there . . . and the Russians have claimed it, reasoning that the seabed is an extension of the russian continental shelf.
they've also started flying bombers up there on patrol.
so, to sum up:
Putin flexes his muscle, and we're going to get some pansy-ass in the White house.
I hope guiliani wins now . . . think he's the only man crazy enough for the russians to respect.
we need curtis lemay types to deal w them.

LOL while everyone else is out making money. That's our own faults.

Nietzsche said ressentiment* was a jewish flaw . . . but I think getbig demonstrates that some people of european and african origin have far outstripped them.
*Ressentiment is a sense of resentment and hostility directed at that which one identifies as the cause of one's frustration, an assignation of blame for one's frustration. The sense of weakness or inferiority and perhaps jealousy in the face of the "cause" generates a rejecting/justifying value system, or morality, which attacks or denies the perceived source of one's frustration. The ego creates an enemy, to insulate itself from culpability.

will our next leader be able to flex our muscles appropriately?
putin's on his way out too . . . but there's speculation that he's going to be the puppetmaster in russia.

the arctic is canada's, we're sending two canoes and 50 eskimos to destroy the russians!

but that shelf basically is a sunken part of russia..

They haven't quite claimed it yet. They're attempting to make a claim.
This isn't really some roguish power play. Under international law they have to justify their claims. Canada and America are challenging them. I think the Netherlands is, too.
None of this would have been possible without global warming. ;)

Is this related to the "Why do we support Israel?" thread?
This is like the fourth topic I've seen where you've referenced jew power.
I think you're taking it a little overboard. Did anyone in that thread even mention the clandestine, powerful cabal of influential jews who run the country. It was mostly a legitimate political topic that managed to stay mostly on topic.
Jews don't get that much fiyah around here and that topic pretty much stayed on topic. When you compare it to topics about other races or groups, it was pretty tame.

the russians are the laughing stock of the globe... i mean they can't go 6 months without a disaster...

Why is it about flexing muscles with Russia?
How about creating good relations with them instead?

Send in a few moose an brown bear and you got it won. ;)

Building up a relation with the Russians would probably give USA a better shot at influencing how Russia handles the Chechyan problem, don't you think?
BTW, when did the Russian gas Chechyans?

i think you overestimate human nature.
good relations first, but you also have to let them know that you're willing to go the distance.
as a famous american once said, "walk quietly, but carry a big stick."

That's exactly what I don't do.
And that's why I would feel nervous about the biggest nations in the world being less than on very good terms.

from the american p.o.v., we do not want to be supplanted by the russians at the top of the heap. there is definitely a competitive aspect to the relationship . . . the only way to take that aspect out would be for one nation to cede the field to the other . . . not likely.
putin has shown a tendency to push, but w cowboy bush, he hasn't pushed too hard . . . however, if we get someone like obama in office (unlikely), his successor is not going to be too concerned.
ultimately, russia and the us will co-operate for economic reasons, but we can't let them get more of an energy edge than they already have.
-
BTW, when did the Russian gas Chechyans?
They drop gas on their strongholds and positions...
In return the Chechen's make movies that show them decapitate very young conscripts (worse movie I have seen and the once that made me stop watching that crap even if I have to admit I'm incredible curious) and in return of that the Russian take 40 Civilians and bind them all together with barbwire place them on top of some 10 Shells and explode them all.... and yes there is a movie as well.
Its a fucking vicious cycle.
-

daily... the ethnic cleansing of the chechen population is a disgrace

I know about that. Read a little on it as a matter of fact.
But I would like to know more about how exactly Russians are "gassing chechens".

i was being glib...
i don't really care what they're doing to them
i do not spend much time worrying about dead russians or dead chechens

That's what you get for killing Children.
Can't handle the repercussions of murdering CHILDREN? Then don't do it.
100% justified.

Civilians get entrapped by their own islamic beliefs and recruited for such missions. Jihad is a large part of you duty as a muslim.
Analise the people who actually took that school hostage. Women in burkas for instance.
Simple matter of fact is, you wanna play those kinda games, don't cry when the repercussions come back to haunt you.

Unfortunately there is truth in this.
The first time the Russians went into they where very unprepared.
The Russian army was still recovering from the collapse of the USSR and was in a terrible state.
Many Russian soldiers where taken prisoner and where shown no mercy with punishments like mass castration, flaying etc.( a Belgium nurse doing mercy work for the Chechen's reported on all this)
The Chechen's fought with gangster tactics showing very little honour in anything.
The second time the Russians went in they where better much prepared and showed no mercy back.
