Title: Press Conference Questions to Ask: Serious Ones
Post by: Ron on September 24, 2007, 05:17:14 PM

Like last year, we asked a few questions, and gave a few questions to Bob & Dan. What questions, serious ones, do you want us to ask the competitors...

Do the bbers bring back up trunks, in case another bber pulls a "Patriots" on 'em, and steals their trunks.

Do the pro bbers, get discounts on Pro Tan (or whatever they use, since they use so much of it)?

Is the stage slippery, with all the oil that's used?

Do people laugh at you when you tell them what you do for a living (I.E. pro bber)?

YES, THESE ARE REAL QUESTIONS I'D LIKE TO HAVE ANSWERED.

David Henry - Has your change in attitude had anything to do with Ron's question last year?

Melvin - According to Johnnie Jackson you talk smack behind competitors back and are disrespectful, what gives?

Johnnie - Will you beat Melvin Anthony again?

Will Harris - First time on the Olympia stage, do you really think you can crack the top 10?

Silvio - You've competed in a number of shows this year, do you think you have enough gas in the tank to land in the top 10?

Toney - All the "experts" have you barely cracking the top 5. If you're compared to Jay, Ronnie and Victor where will you beat them?

Quincy - You talked a lot of smack in the Olympia Series and claimed you could beat everyone on stage. You have yet to back up your talk. Will you finally do what you've said in the past few weeks?

Gustavo - Quincy compared you to a "block of cheese". What do think about that?

Jay - Some people say you've been cocky since becoming Mr. Olympia. Have you let the Mr. Olympia title go to your head?

Dexter - You've been getting no love in the pre-contest hype. Can you dethrone Mr. Olympia?

Melvin - Dennis James said you will be at your all-time best. Is Dennis James blowing smoke or are you at your best?

Ron, I look at how this thread has degenerated and I never saw it coming ;D

How about:

1- For the older competitors; What are you career plans after retiring? Has the world of bodybuilding anything to offer beyond the competitive world that is worth make a living?

2- Is the supplement industry exercing too much influence on the competitive world? Is the outcome seen as "affected" by sponsorhip.

3- Amid all his major improvements, why is Troy Alves getting fucked every single show he has entered for the past 2 years?

Melvin- what did you do from the atlantic city til now to improve your physique, that placed 4th behind three other competitors who didnt even finish in the top 10 of the olympia last year.

To everyone-  With this being the second year that prejudging is on friday, are you better prepared to bring a great conditioned package to both fridays prejudging and saturdays finals.

Johnnie Jackson- What do you think you need to do to break into the top 6?

Toney Freeman- Why did  you chose to not work with dave palumbo for the olympia, when you had your all time best placings and conditioning while working with him?

Gustavo- In the pics that you posted online, what happend to  your quads, they looked smaller than ever. Was there an injury in the offseason?

Now, what do you expect the judging to be?

These are serious questions but ones which no one will have the balls to ask:

How do you think the recent US government crack down and drug busts will affect the IFBB physiques and the IFBB in general?

Will the recent US government crack down affect your preparation for future contests?  Will you train in a country that allows it's citizens to take AAS, GH, and insulin without the need for a prescription?

Don't want to hear truthful answers to real questions?  Do you enjoy listening to a bunch of hypocrits spew nonsense about placings, nonexistent judging and improvements they made with their sponsor's new powders, pultices and snake oils?  If Ronnie pissed on your leg and told you it was raining would you beleive him because you didn't want to rock the boat?

If you really care about the future of bodybuilding, you will want someone to ask these questions.  Otherwise, Joe and Ben will be hauled off to testify before Congress sooner or later about drugs in their organization and and the feds will shut down this little entertainment venue.  Trust me that day is fast approaching.

Ronnie- What are you going to do when you retire from bodybuilding? Are you going back to being a cop? Will you start your own supplement line?

Ronnie- You said that this will be your last Olympia? Does this really mean that you are hanging up the trunks for good or does it just mean that youll be doing other shows other than the Olympia? Bodybuilding has been very lucrative for you, why not make money and win the Arnold and other shows you know you can dominate and just not do the Olympia? That way you wont have to retire?

You are confusing real inquiry with "hate" some how.  Is it because you want to hear Ronnie's favorite color or what about asking Jay what he listens to on his ipod when he works out?  Any better?  Those are shallow and inane questions. You are probably the same kind of guy that reads People magazine--or maybe Jet.

I don't hate steroids.  People should be able to put in their body whatever they want without governmental interference.  But now that the government has interfered, and in a significant way, why not ask the "pros" how they are dealing with that and how it will affect their ability to make a living.  Ask real questions.

Who do you think had the best Olympia physique in history?

Should the Olympia go back to tall and short classes or consider implementing two weight divisions?

Is Olympia judging fair and consistent?

Should the IFBB bring back the European Grand Prix shows after the Olympia?

Here's a really good one...

Ask the competitors:

"Would you agree with the mandatory re-introduction of Iron-Age (60s/70s) style trunks in an effort to de-sexualise and legitimise the sport and to eradicate unhealthy conditioning standards (ie: ripped glutes)?"

Ask if there's a chance of re-introducing the short and tall classes again.

It worked back in the day when bodybuilding was more popular and the masses would be more interested if Rockell or Henry won the short class than if Markus (who's awesome) or the fridge placed in the top 5.
