Title: lowest bodyfat% that is healthy and can be maintained year round?
Post by: Tom on September 25, 2007, 11:03:41 AM
just wondering what is the lowest bodyfat percentage that can be maintained year round that is both healthy and looks great?

i guess there is the difference also if your a pro or top npc competitor whose are special supplements year round or your the natural competitor? anyway, any thoughts?

being that the top pros and amateurs are roughly during competitions around 3 to 4 percent, then what are their bodyfat % the rest of the year? do they care? which pro keeps the lowest bodyfat % year round? i'm guessing the aesthetic, small waisted guys are the best best to keep not only their bodyfat down but their weight as well down throughout the year. unfortunately, cutler when he's not around competing time 2 months before and 2 months after the rest of the year looks like an overweight, somewhat doughey football player in baggy clothes.

I think it can be quite a bit lower and still be in good health.  Flex looked fairly healthy even when his bodyfat was measured at 0.00 %.

It varies by individual according to your genetics.  However, unless you're a freak, any number lower than 8 probably isn't sustainable for long periods of time.

I train for a high intensity cardio sport as well as BBing, i am clean now, sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night and i can't sleep because i have no fat left to burn. I would stay around 6-7% by a guess to go lower i would need to be on something or need some more years of maturity and quality. I almost can't eat enough i drink milk with most meals now i have had enough of eating.

I don't think he knows what 3-4% looks like. But if he does, he ain't going to find it on an Olympia stage...or not very many other stages for that matter.

everyone thinks there bodyfat is much lower than it actually is.

So if they say they are at 10% they are usually 12-14%

And if they say they are under 10, they are usually right around 10%.

So with that being said, 8-10% bf is maintainable for most, if they watch what they eat and exercise regularly, and are naturally lean

go lower than 8-10, your immune system will be affected. Since I have a rock solid immune system I can pull it off (never even had antibitiotics), but someone that is less fortunate will have to stay at a higher BF.

Definitely 350 lbs, I won't question that.

 8)

Conservatively speaking, judging by his pectoral area, his fingers, and his chin(s), I'd say he's about 45+ %.

If he went down to a healthy 20-25 %, he would be around 260-270 lbs.

And at a very fit 10-15 %, he would be around 230-240 lbs. Very big.

But he needs to lose 100+ lbs.

Thanks, Hedge.  That confirms my own suspicions.  I think we need to organize an intervention for this guy.  Between his morbid obesity and the constant agitation he shows from his non-stop meltdowns on the Y, his heart won't last long.

He can only deadlift that much when he is fat. Now that he is so ripped, he is at a mechanical disadvantage.
