Skip la Cour used to do it. anyone familiar with it? In the offseason, purposely consuming lots of sodium to hold more water to help with lifts?

I've never tried it, but the increased 1RM max when using creatine is hypothesized to work the same way.

Skip used to do it.
Did he mention why he doesn't anymore?

most professional bodybuilders take in large amounts of sodium, even today.
and water retention is the reason, yes.

As long as you drink teh water you're ok.

ive done it many times for contest prep and it works well if you time it correctly. of course you need to keep your sodium up to help prevent cramping or tearing a muscle while training but i dont really see the need to sodium load.
