Title: The bar has fallen so far for our Mr. Olympia..
Post by: Hulkster on September 29, 2007, 01:04:13 PM
will it ever be raised again?

 :'(

Haney set a new standard in 84.

Dorian set a new standard in 93 (although some feel it was not for the better).

Ronnie raised the  bar again in 98/99

and again in 2003 (although like dorian, some feel it was not for the better).

Now, we have Jay...

and if you compare him to past Mr. O's, we are going backwards, and fast...

everything peaks...bodybuilding is no different

with ronnie was the absolute peak in how big and conditioned a human could get

i dont think anyone will quite be the same as him.

The only person I can see coming close to Ronnie's size is Trey and I doubt he'll live long enough to get there. And if he does he still won't look as good. Wolf also seems like he's still got a lot of potential but the moment the waist expands it's over.

Ronnie did NOT raise the bar in 1998/1999 give me a fucking break 2003 YES 1998/99 NO not even close . 98 he was a dense & dry 249 pounds whoopie-do Yates was 257 pounds dense & dry in 1993 , 1999 he was a fuller and less conditioned 257 pounds WOW-WEE Dorian was 270 pounds and just as dense & dry as Coleman in 1998 and better conditioned than Ronnie 1999 .

2003 Ronnie was set the bar for heaviest and the best conditioned at that weight on stage !! Dorian's been just as heavy and harder at the same weight guest posing big deal , Dorian wouldn't set onstage unless he was well conditioned Ronnie should have taken that cue before making a joke out of himself.

Ronnie was the biggest, sickest, freakiest bodybuilder, ever....it wouldnt even be close those years he was at his peak- Ronnie make a joke out of himself? Your an idiot man. Ronnie would of destroyed dorian.

NO fucking kidding it wouldn't be close if he was at his peak hence why he's making a joke out of himself NOW  get it? and Ronnie had six years to try and destroy Dorian the closest he ever came was 5th  ;)

Very true - Ronnie took bodybuilding to its limit in 03 and started to go downhill from there. Dorian got consistently better in conditioning with the exception of 94. Jay hasn't raised the bar at all.

I taped the 2003 Olympia on pay per view the night it came on
and was blown away by Ronnie's size and condition. The same night
I played the prejudging of the 99 Olympia and was blown away by how
much better Ronnie looked in 99 than even his 2003 form. By the evening in 99 he had lost alot
of fullness but I think the best bodybuilder ever was Ronnie at the 99 O
prejudging. I have seen video of 2001 Arnold classic too. Looked great but the
extra 10 pounds of muscle he had in 99 makes all the difference.

hulkster you are such a sore sport

admit Ronnie looks terrible and he deserves to lose

stop talking about the past

this is 2007 and the other BBers who are better than Ronnie this year deserve respect

everyone knows Ronnie was great but noone wants to talk about past history while the 2007 Mr Olympia is going on!!!!!!!!

he looked better fuller but his conditioning suffered for it , his best showings are 1998 Mr Olympia and 2001 Arnold classic because specifically his conditioning was spot on , 99 he was great but NOT as sharp as the fore mentioned .

I don't bash Ronnie I don't troll threads like you do , posting the same 99 screencaps lol you've been chastised a LOT lately for your trolling and you're the resident fucking retard you think you're just as qualified to judge a contest AT HOME VIA PICTURES than a professional judge is live and in person , you're ignorant and bitter , the same happened last year when Ronnie lost you cried for weeks lol

another pathetic thread to salvage some of ronnies dignity by a pathetic fanboy - huckster...

give it up . coleman looks like shit.

prior to Jay, no mr olympia over 270lbs had actual abdominal definition.
for proof look at that the sack of crap ronnie calls a midsection.

who is saying ronnie DOESN'T look like shit? ::)

what is it about all the ronnie haters being so fucking stupid?

none of them can apparently read and understand english properly... :-\

nor can they understand the context of any of this.

it is so far over their heads its scary.

its amazing how none of you have even elementary critical thinking skills..

The fact that bodybuilding is subjective is part of what makes it
interesting. One person thinks 2003 Ronnie is the greatest.
Another 98, 99 2001? ect. Was Dorian or Ronnie's back the best?
How would Arnold do with todays chemicals? ect...
Keep the debates going and let the bodies hit the floor...
otherwise this could be a pretty boring (sport?)

Ronnie set the bar too this year for past his prime ex-Mr Olympias who should have packed in it last year ! and it has NOTHING to do with being a Ronnie hater its stating the obvious.  ;)

and you should NOT be commenting on people critical thinking skills you're the fucking moron who thinks Dorian lost the 1993 Mr Olympia and you're just as qualified to judge a contest via pics than judges are in person , you lack critical thinking skills when its concerned to competitive bodybuilding  ;)

elementary critical thinking skills..

if posting 99,03 pictures of ronnie over and over again with "ronnie is the best of all time"
constitutes elemental thinking skills, then you, my sad ronnie fan, are in need of some help
(in addition to the counselling you require for your consistently delusional statements).

I think after this contest, you need to go cold turkey with the ronnie adoration for a while. its sickening.

no, that is not what is happening you idiot.

I am posting pics in response to all the people claiming Wolf could kick Ronnie's ass today tomorrow and yesterday.

that would not happen if Ronnie was not 43 and injured, burned out etc.

one day you might get a brain and understand, but until then, I guess ignorance is bliss.. :-\

Don't use his age as an excuse Beckles was in his 60s and didn't look like shit Taylor in his 50s , Strydom is close to 50 and doesn't look like garbage.

none of those people ever competed non stop like ronnie has nor has remained as competitive.. And don't kid yourself:  Beckles competed for 15th place most of the time in grand prix shows when he was still going late in his career. Ronnie at least will make the top 6. at the olympia no less.

even ageless Vince had a long break.

so stop being so stupid.

it is not the same thing by any means.

you are comparing apples and oranges.

but then again, you are not very smart, so I can see why...

Someone already posted, I think ND?, that Wolfe's best is yet to come and this, his 2nd O, he is looking to place better than Ronnie at his 2nd O. Age and excuses aside, Ronnie choose to take the stage looking as he does this year - and his 2007 form and placing tonight will always remain.

Wolfe is what 28? Give him time I say.....An undeniable fact is that Ronnie simply cannot come back, he is the past and Wolfe is the future.

Beckles was in his 50s when he placed SECOND place to Lee Haney ! and he competed since 1965 up until 1992 I think ,  again stop using age as an excuse Ronnie isn't competing in the spring shows he's all saved up for the Olympia and rides his condtioning through the Euro tour .

actually moron,

you are posting the same pictures and regurgitating the same shit over and over in each and every thread
thread.

no one claimed that wolf was better than ronnie in his prime. but you probably thought someone thinks that
hence your BS claims.

the funny thing is that your idiocy is understandable as you are
probably contemplating suicide with ronnie placing 4th at best tonight.

FFS! you have your own mega thread allready!

Wolf owns everyone in structure, a bit more calves and lower back and he's close to perfect (although high tricep insertions which make his arms not as good as Ron's)

Wolf should win this one, his waist, taper, thickness and quadsweep are better than the rest.
