The worthless jobs as a Bodybuilder would be the following:
1)Bouncer
2)Personal Trainer
3)Bartender
Those 3 jobs are probably the most worthless and take no skill. They are the LAZY man's ideal job. Those 3 jobs are for people who couldn't take the real world and gave in.

Being a successful PT requires a good deal of skill.
Other two are spot on

a good pt involves personality over skill imo. you can entertain your rich clients they will keep coming.
-
I have a full time job and DJ on the weekends. Its easy work and alot of extra money. I don't really see anything wrong with that.

Bouncer: we had a colleague at the gym who got shot right in the head for being a bouncer,so i guess it aint no easy job
Personal Training: u crazy ,u kno how much extra money u can make as a personal trainer beside ur real job

I make enough DJ ing to pay my rent, car payment and some other bills. Thats all on top of what I make at my full time job. My "worthless" job at a nightclub is allowing me to put alot of money away into my savings for a down payment on a home.

GEE UMMM HMMMMM....I wonder what the BODYGUARD is being paid to protect Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, ANY POLITICIAN, Movie Actors/Actresses, wealthy individuals, international leaders....
Your question would have been better if asked... WHAT CAREERS COULD A BODYBUILDER HAVE AFTER COMPETING OR EVEN WHILE COMPETING?
In the case of the careers you mentioned it is all based on where a person works. A bartender gets EXCELLENT tips if he is at a good established business....the tips can be many times the salary.
Personal Trainer...well if you can become a TRAINER OF THE STARS or company execs...you could have it made.
Bouncer...well...most people bounce and waitress as temp or part time jobs it is rarely the permanent fulltime job.
-
how the hell is a dedicated bodybuilder supposed to find time to work? its not easy trying to fit 6 meals and one 45min workout session into a 24 hour time period

The fact that you love bodybuilding and bodybuilders so much you feel the need in your mind at least to try and create a higher level of respectability and credibility in jobs that have very little is commendable but a little misguided methinks.

this is idiotic; these jobs are for people who have well developped social skills; most lazy people are loners an egomaniacs, especially if they bodybuild.
These are perfect jobs for bodybuilders with social skills and who like to be in touch with a lot of people constantly, but someone's lazy would have a hard time serving other peoples on a daily basis...

True! so what do you recommend for me them ?

I've seen bartenders that made $5-600 a night. I wouldn't want to do it but they were rolling in cash and they were pounding all the hotties they could handle.

Heap of crap. These jobs are like any other. You get out of it with you put into it. Most people go through the motions and phone it in. You can be a superior PT if you do your homework and put your time in. If you just want to be a glorified rep counter, well, then you are going through the motions. Similarly with being a bouncer. You can be a superior bouncer if you do your homework, train in some specific skills and put in your time and effort. Same thing with bartending.
When I was a "yoot", I was a sacker in a grocery store. Dead end teen McJob, right? But I made an effort to do my job well. You smile, you be courteous to the customer. You don't put the cereal box in the corner of the paper bag cuz it will rip. Don't put the eggs on the bottom, etc. You can take a McJob and be good at it with the right attitude and some gumption. A slacker is going be to be a slacker, no matter what job he is doing. If you think you are better than other people and better than your job, you are going to slack off. Don't look down on your customers/clients. It's just the Golden Rule in action. When I mopped the floor, I did a great job because of superior attitude and superior skills. The sole of a sneaker makes a great eraser for stuck on grime the mop doesn't get off. It's about making an EFFORT to do your job well.
We all know "bodybuilders" who to to the gym regularly, do the same routine all the time and never make progress because they don't make that extra effort to kick it up a notch. Same thing applies to most things in life. Are you going to do your job "just good enough" to get by, or are you going to do that extra bit of work to get ahead? It's called PRIDE. It's why I re-read my posts before I hit the "post" button to catch my typos. Sure, it's quicker to just post with typos, and I may not catch all my mistakes, but I want my posts to make sense and look intelligent. I may not be successful, but it's not because of a lack of trying.

As opposed to your post which criticized a job for a bodybuilder because it wasn't a career on which you raise a family.
Get a grip Prof. Hawking and save your moronic comment for a "Careers for bodybuilders to raise a family on" thread.

Just educating you my dear boy where you are obviously lacking in mentality... and despite the education you fight tooth and nail to remain dumb...my work is done here.

I worked "security" at a bar during college and I made $35 for 5 hours of work.
The Bartenders would make 4-5 X more.
Rarely do the other workers get tipped, and they're often under payed.
-
As far as raising a family, if it is your only job, bouncing or bartending is probably not a good idea, as those jobs usually have zero benefits. However, if it is a second job, it can actually be a great way to make extra money because the time you spend working is time that your kids would be asleep anyway. I don't have any kids nor am i married, but im sure alot of couples in tight financial situations could really benefit from one or both of them having a second job, and weekend bartending and bouncing usually wouldnt interfere with a 9-5. Any decent bartender, even in a small town can make an extra 1000 dollars a month just working weekends.

Well said. I've made a pretty good living as a PT for over 14 years. If you're GOOD people will refer other to you and your client retention is high. I met Janet Jackson's trainer about 6 years ago. Very nice guy, flew everywhere with her and trained her for 2hrs a day. The rest of the day was his and he was staying at the Trump Towers in a room that Janet paid for. Life as a PT is what you make it ;D

Personal Trainers can earn pretty good money, and it is a respectable job. Im about to start studying to become one.
Ill probably look at getting in to bouncing when im a bit older. I got a couple of mates who do it and they say it can be pretty good. Pretty easy and seems to pay ok. Not everyone responds well when you tell them your a bouncer. For anyone who wants to get serious about bodybuilding or boxing or any sport, its a convinient job. All day to train, sleep and eat, then work at night.

Great career to raise a family. ::)

personal trainers you got to be somewhat good with people, and its hard to find clients depending on whether your area has fitness minded folks
a bouncer and bartender works night shift, its very very tiring to work night shift thats the main thing. your body simply cannot sleep in the day with sunlight through the windows, you wont get quality sleep.
theres a few part of a bouncer job
1. at the door - basically has to stamps people's hand and check bags
2. inside the club - watching ppl dancing, make sure there is no drugs, molest, fights
depending on how crowded the club is, being a bartender is fucking difficult my friend!
1. you have to set up the bar.
2.every day you have to scoop around 50kg of ice, carrying 20kg beer barrels, washing a few hundred rock glasses a day till ur shirt gets wet
2. you have to remember a few hundred cocktails recipes!
3. when crowded, you have to work fast and have a clear mind so you dont forget your orders or forget to bill the customer!
4. for flair bars you got to learn to flair
its not as easy as it looks...but if you work in a pub and not big clubs then yes its pretty easy once you get the hang of it
-

Im 27 and still DJing. Its allowing me to put alot of extra money aside for purchasing a home. I have a very good fulltime job, but the extra cash DJing really helps things out. Besides, I rarely drink and am not much into the bar scene, so its not like im missing much having to work weekend nights.

Im 27 and still DJing. Its allowing me to put alot of extra money aside for purchasing a home. I have a very good fulltime job, but the extra cash DJing really helps things out. Besides, I rarely drink and am not much into the bar scene, so its not like im missing much having to work weekend nights.
I was a DJ for 8 years. From when I was 19 till I was 27. It was great side money and It wasn't even like work. it was also a great little sub culture, I knew all the other dj's around, NEVER had to wait in line or pay to get in a club, and when you were at a different club you could just chill in the booth, snort some lines, and get away from all the animals packed in like sardines.

I'm not talking about doing them on the side for extra money... that's fine. I'm talking about the guys where that's all they do.

I'm sure the other guys that spin records here can back me up on that one, it was ridiculously easy,
These young club chicks think you're fucking god

Please do not take this the wrong way because i have no idea what you look like, but i find it interesting that you can be an UGLY DJ or an UGLY fat bouncer and for some reason under those lights you become hot and popular (and not only because the customer has been drinking). It's a bit like a cop. You can be nerdy as hell but the fact you have this "superior" job makes you look like a million bucks.
As for bartendars...well most of the time they are good looking ;) no matter what.

Agree 100%
But they tell me I'm good looking actually, so it made it that much easier for me.
There's a face pic of me around here somewhere.

Yeah, then it sucks. Most clubs provide no benefits to anyone except the managers and owners. Job security can also be very shaky. Some of the chicks that work at the club I DJ at don't have any other jobs and its kinda sad.

Ya, you would give a whole new meaning to "scratching records" ;D

I spun at a strip club a few times and hated it.
Chicks were catty as hell and generally not nice people, all they gave a shit about was getting money from the fools there

On the surface it would seem that way, but its not true. I know a few guys who have worked at strip clubs that say after a few weeks, it gets old. You really don't even pay attention to them being naked, and most of them have tons of issues and want to tell you about each and every one. I don't ever want to "get used to" seeing hot naked women!

That's pretty much it right there.
And truth is, most of 'em aint that hot either.
They look good at first but once you take a good look you see that they are kinda beat up, fake titties, bad teeth and they can fit a bowling pin up their ass without flinching.
They are a few that are knockouts, but that's the execption

I worked at Strip clubs (bouncer)..................it was not as much fun as working in a "regular nite-club"
(the "patrons" at strip clubs are 99% male/lotta fights, drunk rednecks, old pervs etc etc) naked girls + booze =fights
in a regular club there are girls to talk to/hit on.....in a strip club 99% of the girls are junkies and or victims of some kind of abuse/broken home
it gets boring hearing the same music and routines over and over and over again........(yes i dated a few strippers and there are exceptions to the rules ................but more often than not what i stated is true)

Also...............they have sex with their boyfriends before they go on stage

My goal in life is to be a "superior bouncer." Please do tell me how?
I am not a bouncer. But I would guess it would involve knowing something about psychology, conflict resolution, martial arts, submission holds, your legal responsibilities, etc.

hahahha, you tell 'em "jayhawk". ;D

Regarding my original post...all I'm saying is that it isn't so much "worthless job" as "worthless job holder". I have known people with shit jobs who were kind, nice, took pride in their work and didn't bitch about it. I have known guys with great jobs who constantly bitched about them and whined like the world owed them even more than they already had.

They're not bad jobs, per say. They just don't age well.
Do you really want to be 40+ and still serving drinks to or breaking up fights between people in their early to mid twenties?

There's a guy who STILL BARTENDS at one of the bars I worked at 15 years ago. He must be 50+ now, fucking sad.

Maybe he does it for the social interaction. Sad for him may be sitting home alone.

If it's a younger-crowd bar full of early 20-somethings, WTF kind of "social interaction" would there be? I'm only in my 30's and can't stand hanging out in places full of kids like that.

sitting home alone? shit man the guy is 50 not 85.

If you were a lonely single 50 year old, working at some small townie bar might not be a bad way to get out of the house and talk to people. I'm sure the guys not working at some big club. I hope not :-[

I think if you love what you're doing then what's wrong with it? If you don't...then do something else. :)

More likely that he's is scraping by and has no health insurance, pension plan, sick days, paid vacation, or holiday pay.

i have worked as a bar staff in big and small establishments
if you want to be a bartender find a job in a small pub its easy. the bars are easy to set up and clean and the pace is relaxed, you can talk and have chill
if you work in big clubs.. you really have to earn your pay when it gets busy!! many times during happy hours or holiday eve i was in the bar and there are idiots yelling from your back front side for their drinks ;D bartending is fun, you get to meet people, most guys go to the club to have fun so most customers are in a relaxed mood and the job is not stressful.
i have met some asshole and crazy people that had to be escorted out by security
fun times. but working night shift long term is terible for your health, its very very tiring

A lot of cops work-out on the clock. I see it all the time. My ex was a cop and worked out on the clock and there are cops down here that come into our gym (in cruisers) and work out.
from what i heard is that it got out of hand. paid to go do contests all the time, leave early.. created alot of animosity towards other cops becuase of his special treatment.

Well I am sure Ronnie got some special treatment, but as I said...I know there are a lot of cops that train on the city's/state's dime.

To be honest, I'm not sure that is such a bad idea. Lots of companies pay employees on the clock to go to seminars or continuing education. I wouldn't quibble a bit if cops or firemen were given paid time on the clock to go to the gym. It would probably have to be some sort of department mandated program or gym, not freelance. If a fireman comes to my house, I want him/her to be able to haul my fat 224 pound ass to safety! Hell, I wouldn't care if they were allowed to juice up either.

just imagine how much more money you'd have if you grew some nuts and quit the steroids.
not funny, or intelligent.
i shouldn't be surprised.

What about Dalton...from Road Hoase? He ripped that guys throat right out...that took some monster skills.
