While it the results were unpopular i had a great time at my 1st olympia. I was visiting from Ireland. I thought Wolf was incredible. I was one of the guys in the crowd screaming "Woooolfffe" and making howling noises at pre-judging. I had to work in Ireland on Sunday so could not attend the finals. I was at "Meet the Olympians", friday expo and pre-judging.
Meet the Olympians was cool. It'a amazing how big some of these guys look in person. I saw Wolf and couldn't stop telling people how huge his arms were and that i hadn't realised he was so much bigger than Jay and Ronnie. The line to see jay and ronnie was over an hour long so I spoke to some of the other athletes. It was great how relaxed and friendly they were. Even gustavo who was really tired and hungry stayed till the end and made jokes with the fans.
The coolest part though was meeting Ron and lift studios. Those guys are so friendly and semed to know everybody at the expo and olympia. They even let me do an interview with Eddie Abbew for BB.com. Unfortunately I didn't let go of his hand for the entire 5 mins. I'm sure my moment of fame had to be cut entirely. I spoke to dave palumbo and john romano that night and both seemed very cool and said it was cool i had made the trip from Ireland.
The Expo was great for seing my old favourite BB's from when i 1st started reading the mags in 1997. I met Flex Wheeler, Chris cormier, Dorian, Gunther, Big Lou and actually had a nice conversation with Don Long and Ed Van Amsterdam(he is huge).
I really enjoyed the pre-judging but booed when Wolf didn't get compared to Jay and Victor. I have to say that although he is well past his best, to see Ronnie up close hitting his last few most musculars and screaming was impressive.
I had a great time in Vegas. To Ian who i had a few pints with in one of the Hotel bars I hope you win Mr. Wales someday. Again, thank you Ron and Lift studios for letting me do the Eddie interview and introducing me to lots of people. Sorry I could'nt hang around for sat night, hope you had fun at the afterparty.

You guys don't miss a trick. Hey i'm from ireland. We don't have any Abercrombie stores so i picked up some stuff in San Fran last week. I just brought the bag to carry the tee-shirts etc i was getting at the expo.

I new someone would ask that. he actually dind't but i had bought one of his t-shirts as a gift for someone so maybe that was why I didn't get hit for the $25!

There are no gyms in Ireland?

I'm 5'11 and 1/2. I'd guess Wolf is 6"1. I'm definately taller than Ronnie, Jay and Dorian. I'll post some more pics.

Nice to meet you too. It's always fun to meet people from the boards. Glad you had a good time meeting people and doing the interview with Eddie.
Ron and I met a number of people who made the trip to Vegas from outside the US. I forget how many people follow bodybuilding outside of the states. Thanks for supporting the industry and making the trip.

fair enough i'm skinny. But I work 100 hours a week sometimes(junior resident in surgery) so getting to gym or even eating is tough. I lift when i can and have fun. I once deadlifted 365 and benched 235 for a few reps so that will do me.

Thanks. It was cool hanging out and saying hello to all the faces i've seen over the years in mags or in videos. I'll definately go again in a year or so. :)

I totally agree. Remove a few teeth and he could be the rubby you see outside the liquor store. :-\

Seems like you got your priorities right. being a doctor and saving people, making good money and having a good career is definately more impt than lifting weights
at the end of the day lifting weights is just a 'hobby' for us folks who have a job and do not intend to compete. lets not get to obsessed with bodybuiding. i am thinking of going back to do a part time course but i work around 10 hours day, so i do go back to study i will definately stop working out

I mean that his do anything to be the best at what he does philosophy.
Now he's training in MMA, probably throwing himself at it 110%, and getting beat up in the process, he is mid 40's after all. And I'm sure all those years he did whatever necessary to win the Olympia title didn't help either.
